Is there a cheaper way than kaw dealer for a spare fob ,quoted me 268 quid for abit of plastic

There is a fob that is about £50ish (has to be programed to the bike) that has to be held next to the ignition to work.
See pic, this is my wife's set of duplicate keys that she keeps in case I loose any/all of mine when we're away.

I didn't get a red key with mine just a fob and a small plastic spare you can holed to the ignition

Red key is for the GIVI top box.

Post 2010 models get one large  active fob and the smaller passive fob.
You shouldn't need another active fob, just change the battery regularly, and take the passive with you on tour as you would any spare set of keys.

Pre 2010 models came with two active fobs.

Sorry not to be clear Lloyd, if you got the black square and a fob that should keep you out of trouble. It was the black square with Kawasaki written on it I was trying to highlight.
