 :mfr_lol:

I suffered a puncture on my Green GTR fitted with PR3s , truth is that it was a substantial nail which would have penetrated a bloody tractor tyre

I'm looking forward to even better performance and longevity from these PR4 GTs

12K from the first rear PR4 GT and the second is going to just get to 10K.

The first front got 10.5K and this one seems to be heading for similar.

Brilliant tyre, wet or dry, but especially impressive in the wet compared all I've ridden on over the years.

had a run out today and have now got about 100 miles on my PR4 GTs, the difference beteeen them and the OEM Bridgestone tyres is very noticeable,  I've only ridden them in the dry so far but the bike feels to turn easier and lighter.

I'm sure they will last too

Agreed, OC. The difference is really noticeable.

Just done 5000 miles on a pair of brand new PR4 GTs. Not once did they give me cause for concern even when there was an inch of water on the road during a storm deluge.

Also, no sign of squaring off, given that it was all motorway/major roads.

Cheers

Hi

When I bought the trike it had a std front tyre, and I wore it out in about 1500 miles, fitted a new one the same and got the same result.
Then after a lot of reading and some luck I fitted a Michelin Pilot Activ Rear, in reverse rotation, 130/70-17, works well and has done over 4000 miles, and now it's flattened off and worn to the point there is very little tread in the middle it grips even better, but it will need changing soon, and Michelin have stopped making my size :-/ , unless it comes from the USA......

As I understand it, it's a Bias Ply, dual compound tyre.

What's my best option as an alternative?

What I know about trikes isn't worth knowing, but I'd have thought that *any* front tyre would be prone to squaring off as trikes don't really lean round corners.

I could be wrong and often am.

You could do worse than trying a PR4 GT...

Hi Richard, I guess that the requirements for trike tyres is going to be somewhat different to that of a bike, as such I have no idea what would be good for mileage and performance

I came across these links which might or might not help. good luck and let us know how you get on,

You will be better off with a long life bias belted front motorcycle tyre.
If you want tyre life try the Metzeler ME880 in 120/70-B17.
The ideal would be a car tyre but not sure if you can get one that will fit.
The problem with trike front tyres is that you are pushing them sideways a lot of the time.

Hi

Thanks for the replies.

As has been said, only the centre of the tyre wear, because the trike doesn't lean in the corners.

From lots of reading a rear bias belted works best, because they use harder compound rubber, and they have twice the depth of tread to start with.

My question is, since the Michelin Pilot Activ is no longer available in my size what other model or make is an equivalent?

Thanks

Richard

That's very nice of them! Even better if they'd sent you the HW versions

Cheers

They are the HWM versions.  The rear has an extra layer in the carcase
