Christmas came early for me this week.. My 2nd set of PR4 GT's.

£188 from www.motoblouz.co.uk with free delivery. They came from the Michelin factory in Holland and was in a box with large bubble strips round them for protection..  :mfr_lol:

Fitting next week for £65..

So that's 2 votes for PR4s so far. Thank you Kenneth & Debs

That's a good price too, so thanks again Debs

Cheers

You must be unlucky as I've never had one..

The PR3 and puncture thing is a bit of a mystery.

There are a number of reported punctures with PR3s, myself included, and yet others swear by them,

I found this report which mentions correct inflation levels and potential punctures

http://www.michelin.co.uk/tyres/learn-share/care-guide/guide-for-tyre-pressure

And again on this forum thread,....can it be that these tyres really are puncture prone or is it just that riders are now more concious of the performance of the PR3 (which is a very popular tyre) and maybe its their popularity that make them appear more puncture prone, I know in my case a nail penetrated the rear tyre on my GTR, whether or not the same nail would have similarly penetrated another make of tyre in the same way at the same location is anybodies guess

I had more punctures in PR 3's than in all my years of motorcycling. May be I'm unlucky
But never had one since on same roads with the angeLs. Obviously any tyre can be punctured
But it was an awful lot and one of the tyres had done only 500 miles  so it was really expensive. So for me it's a no no.

fwiw, Angel GT won MCN's "Tyre of the Year Award" in 2013 and the PR4 won it in 2014.

2015, it went to some Metzeler rubber, which seems to be designed as much for the track as the roads. Or maybe I'm just reading between the lines wrongly.

This may be of interest. Demon Tweeks offer freefit on most Michelins either on to a wheel or ride in ride out.
http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/motorcycle/road-tyres/michelin-pilot-road-4-gt
The offer is via Michelin so may be available through other dealers as well.

Thanks Chris. I'll do some digging to see if any local places are doing free fitting.

I was toying with the idea of getting a mobile fitter who specialises in bikes (friend of a friend kinda thing) and change the TPS batteries at the same time. It'd just mean having a hot soldering iron ready for when the tyre is off!

I went through 5 sets of PR4s in 15 months in 2014 / 15 on the GTR / FJR and Busa. Not one puncture.

But I do change them before I get anywhere near the wear marks, they are the only things to touch the road so never run them to the limit.

Paul B, if you remove your wheels, its usually £20 - £25 fitting, you pay extra for the wheel removal....and id never let anyone other than a motorbike dealer take your wheels out and put back in, unless your there to watch.

I had one well know tyre dealer put my front PR4 tyre on the wrong way round when I couldn't get my usual guy..........obviously I ended up with free fitting when I noticed the mistake when putting the wheel back in. Unfortunately the di@k didn't rebalance the wheel, so I never use tyre dealers now.

For those interested to hear whats happening on the "Dark Side" of tyre use I have just had a pair of Michelin Annekee's fitted ... strange looking but given the thumbs up by a lot of Gsers. Only done 200 miles or so and nothing in the wet yet but they feel good and robust. I was happy with the Continental Road Attacks but just fancied trying some thing else ... will let you know more in a while .....
