Time I need to replace the 4 glow plugs in 5/6 hours and always well lit with brain not to make trouble.
Before replacing the glow plugs to Km 24.000, now I'm at 49.000 km

Why replace them? My dealer replaced mine at 25,000 MILES (40,000Km) from new and he said that the old ones looked like new.
Unless you have really strict emissions tests in Italy, you will not know the difference.

:agree: Modern platinum plugs don't need to be swapped out early, so long as engine is still burning clean. I had 80,000km on my 2003 FJR before the plugs even looked like deteriorating in the slightest...

- my dealer replace the stock plugs at about 20,000 kms ( 12,000 miles ).

- there was a reddish deposit on the insulator portion of the plug which the mech thought was caused by fuel additives/contaminants. The plug wasn't "worn out" at all , though.

- anyhow , the bike was noticeably smoother when accelerating hard with the new plugs.

- the work was much easier with the use of a specially short plug wrench.

I had mine replaced yesterday at the 15k mile service. Not a job I'd attempt myself.

No idea, wasn't really interested so didn't ask to see them and to be honest it never even crossed my mind. I was more interested in getting a replacement calliper hanger.

You could apply that to anything bike service related, did they really check the hoses for wear, did they really change the TPS under warranty or did they just chance the battery, did they really change all the brake and clutch fluids etc, etc.

I was honestly very impressed with quality of service from the dealer, Autorama and have no reason to doubt their integrity.

Hi LW,

I know from your previous posts that you have a well founded trust in the workshop that you use, it was a generic comment as I know lots on here have a well founded distrust of their dealers.

A good dealer will offer you the old parts so that you both know without stating it that its been done "properly"

MGvalerio. :sweatdrop:
Mr MGvalerio.. if Mr Kawasaki gave us a bit more room it would make the job a dam site easier  but then the dealers would loose out. but if you have the time and patiences you can save yourself quite a lot of dosh. I never changed the plugs on my gtr never had it long enough. your clip on changing the plugs may persuade others to have ago themselves and due to the lack of space it's very easy to cross thread the plugs :sweatdrop: which then leads to a extremely expensive repair bill. so can I make a suggestion that may save someone from thinking suicidal thoughts if they were strip a plug thread  when I fit plugs, I always put a thin coat of copper grease on the plug threads and seat the plugs without using a ratchet and plug socket. I prefer to be able to feel the plugs screwing in freely, then you know the plugs are not cross threaded. I use a length of garden hose approx 6 inchs long and cut a 3mm slit in the end then slide the hose down over the plug and over the nut part and use the hose to screw the plug into the head. this way it's impossible to cross the threads, any resistance will cause the hose to slip around the plug nut. then when the plug is seated use medium force with the socket and ratchet till the plug bites then apply a bit more pressure and give it a 1/4 turn. I wouldn't like to hear that some poor bugger trying to save a few bob, ended up with cross threading one or more threads in the head

P.S Mr MGvalerio.. see you change your "glow plugs" dose your GTR run on diesel
getting on now...  but not as old as Rog or Geoff

Absolutely true Coman  :agree:

I'm as sure as LW that Autorama will not only have done what they were required, but will have gone the 'extra mile'...its what they do....if Carlsberg made Kawasaki dealers   :whistling:  :mfr_lol:
