Andrew, I hate you :hammer:.               You have created a monster with this thread. :taz: Here we are all telling you that punctures only happen to us once every 10 years blah blah,                            Fast forward to this morning, I'm opening the garage door to get the bike out and give it a wash    WHEN  There it is,  a shiny screw head gawping up at me from the back tyre     :censored: kin ell  thinks me, I'll swing for that Andrew :hammer:. Next time that you get a puncture could you please keep it to yourself :lipsrsealed:.       If any good came from this, it is the fact that the tyres are 3 parts finished anyway, so a pair of new ones are being fitted tomorrow

when persons are having a debate or spirited disagreement) and you have nothing verbally to throw back at them. It means they won the argument. The term "touché" comes from the sport of fencing, when one of the fencer lands a hit on his opponent with his foil

Rog quoted.. "Is that what's called touché" meaning you won the slagging match!

I quoted.. ROG... I reckon Steve is scraping the barrel there and he's all "fenced" out

do you get it now... "FENCED OUT" :whistling: the word "touché" is often used in a fencing match, and I quoted..  you were "all fenced out"

it was the best response I could think at the time    "TOUCHE"  :mfr_lol:

getting on now...  but not as old as Rog or Geoff

Talk about thread drift....

2Kwaks could at least reduce the size of that MONSTROSITY in his signature...  Just about every page of this GTR forum has a massive picture of a ZZR...

By the way, saw one exactly like that in my not-so-local Kwak deaker.  It too made my eyes bleed...

[quote/] Ros...  It too made my eyes bleed... then you must have test rode it :mfr_lol: I'm not removing my pic of my zzr  if steve wants to well that's fine  but if he dose then I'm off.... :mfr_lol:

Arggh, sorry to hear about that!!!  PR3s?
Today was a good day for me - no punctures!

Rusty

Andrew .. late to this thread but yes you are very unlucky ! 1 puncture many years ago and 1 recently right in the middle of a new PR3 with 600 miles .. which was plugged with no problems whatsoever ..
These PR3 s' are belted so are very safe to repair ..so long as the offending nail / scew is not in a side wall.

No, As I said before I dont rate PR3s so I will never use them again.      The puncture came on my winter bike (650 versys). Glad to hear that your day didn't go flat. :mfr_lol:

So next time I will repair it, hopefully in ten year time!!

awwwwww 2Kwaks...  I'm pulling your leg and I'm quite sure LW won't meddle with your signature.

I was quite surprised to see one the same as yours cos I thought yours was a one off...  or something.

Anyway (back to the thread in question) Glad to hear Andrew had no more punctures today.  I was also interested to hear that 160KilometresAway doesn't rate the PR3s.  In this case, I'm happy that I ordered some BT023s instead.  Hope I don't get punctures in them...

O.C.

Ros, bike forums are full of tyre review threads, and opinions are always split on which is best/worst for your particular model. I tend to try them all, and then form an opinion on MY findings, so far, out of the three that I have tried on the GTR, PR3s come bottom of my list and the oe tyres come top, with Dunlop road smarts somewhere inbetween. It must be remembered that in my case I dont do motorways, but do like to get a shift on on A and B roads, and it does seem that this kind of terrain on the GTR is torture regarding  tyre longivity, big heavy bike, lots of road undulations, and the tyres are constantly working hard from one bumpy bend to the next. I tend to end up with a tyre that still has tread left, but the tyre is knackered because it is deformed and totally out of shape. I would like to think that the way that I ride,   ie smooth but quick ish is kind to tyres, but the roads I ride are not.

Yes, on reflection I was probably lucky to get home on Sunday without knowing that the big silver screw had decided to hitch a lift. No harm done though. The tyre lads agreed with me that with the tyre 3 quarters worn it didn't make any sense doing a repair, and I always replace as a pair, so I am having a pair of Continental Road Attacks fitted today
