I don't like the push button controllers. The Oxford one seems to be preset to Cold-Lukewarm-Too Hot-BLOODY HELL!!!
I have Oxfords on my GTR1000 but have the dial controller.
Very reliable and have never had to push them to full heat, even with summer gloves on.
The Saito grips come with the dial controller and are cheaper than the Oxfords which seem to have gone up 50% in price over the last few years.

:agree:..I had Oxford heated grips on my first GTR and as George says they tended to be awkward to switch on and then average heat or bloody hot, and then fiddly to switch off, they did fit the bars though

maybe the latest model Oxford heated grips are better, I wouldn't know, (my latest GTR has 'em as standard fitment )

Trotters

I have the latest Oxford grips fitted. the push button isn't to everyones taste but I've found the latest ones better to operate. Together with my hand wind deflectors (home made) & grips on the lower or medium setting summer gloves are OK most of the year. There are cheaper ones that probably do just as good a job. The Oxford ones fit the bars OK but there is a lot of spare cable to tidy away.

hi mate, ive got "symtec" one on mine, bought them from winding roads, but i think they are on e-bay now,,,was about £40 mark,,, these "stick to ya bars n throttle grip like a small heated element with sticky tape to stick to the bars n fit the grips over the top. You have a choice of a toggle switch or a neat black rocker switch, the latter one i have fitted to the top l/h side of the fairing (where the heated grip switch is on the newer models) you simply drill aprox (if i remember) 15mm hole an "push fit " the round button switch through it,,the overall size is about 3/4",.
This is quite discrete, and you hardly notice it,,,it has a "off" position  in the center with a "hi" and "low" setting,,,must say thou if i had to be using the bike throughout the winter time for work etc,,,i think i would be struggling for warmth!!!,,,,but as im only a pleasure rider as to speak it is more than good enough for me

A set of handlebar muffs would keep your hands warm

Cant realy ride much here where i live. To much snow and ice. But summers can be cold to. Last year in july i ran into some 2 celcius warm mountan pass. Would liked to have had somethig to warm my hands on then. And i find the original grips on the GTR a little thin. So if the heatet grips are thicker that would be a bonus to.

Johnny if you have heated grips and put some Grip Puppies on the diameter of the grips ends up quite comfortable and chunky, but in a good way.

Johnny - just re-read your post.  Be careful using them when gloves are wet and hands are cold.  If too hot you may get steam burns from liquid (rain or sweat) in gloves.

Not kidding either.
