Before I start to really suffer in the wet and cold I'm buying a really decent pair of winter gloves. I have NO faith in online reviews, top 5, etc etc  so was wondering what comes with a thumbs up from proper winter motorcyclists.

Now theres no HG nearby Im pretty short of choice but there is an infinity outlet - if Rukka are worth the money then thats an option.

Got any ideas folks?

Gerbings heated gear is simply magnificent.

I commute between an hour and 2 hours each way, and am lovely and toasty even in the minus 5 to minus 10 range. Jacket, gloves and controllers all come to about £350, so not cheap, but a simply perfect solution.

LobsterClaws!
They are generally warmer than 5 fingered gloves and my pair stayed dry inside for 3 years.
Mine cost £30 in 4XL (I have big hands too) and when they started leaking I just bought another pair.
No, I have no idea what brand they are but at that price you can guarantee that they ain't the Rukkas.
I also have the hand deflectors fitted and they are worth their weight in gold in the winter.

Hmmm. I don't wear winter gloves. Heated grips are well warm enough.  Granted I get a cold middle finger from time to time but then I don't do long distances too often in the cold...

You did - You also suggested I take the car to prevent visor fogging, so I'm thinking you may be in to overcompensating...  :innocent:

I bougt a pair of genuine kawasaki ones at the show for £25 usually £49 they are the best winter gloves i have ever had, my hands are like toast every time. All my textile clothing is kawasaki the quality is amazingly good, but then it would have to be.
get a grip and deal with it

I think Rukka wins the day then - thought someone would ave mentioned them   :mfr_lol:

In town and 100 yards apart theres an infinity and post administration HG store open. Guy in HG said everything HG branded take 40% off the label price.  this meant i could have got a top HG grade goretex glove for around £70 or those HG lobster mitts for £36 !!!  Thats not bad but still popped into infinity to have a look.

OK they are well pricey but decided on a pair of R star leather and goretex winter jobbies.  RRP is £189.99 but reckon they'll do 10% to match another dealer who does that and free postage as well.

Whilst I'm on the subject their Argonaut jacket in uk is £899.99. Now motorland.de in Germany do them a LOT cheaper.

Same as Touratech can be bought in Germany a lot cheaper than paying uk prices I'm hoping its the same with Rukka. I'll update with how I get on.

Isn't that what being in Europe about or what?

Hmm, I agree with Rusty that Rukka are very good quality and worth the money but i have to add that I bought some Rukka Mars gortex gloves the other day and whilst they are very very warm and do keep my hands dry I find that they are too bulky and padded and I don't get any feedback from the grips and I don't feel in control.  I should have bought the thinner Apollo but they were even more money!

Weise or Richa.

Did a lot of testing last year for my old job and I would recommend either - particularly Weise (got them myself)

Check the weight of the thinsulate when comparing.  Make sure they are thin enough to give 'feel' - the heavier thinsulate allows that by not bulking up through heavy leather or liner.

Weise are superb value for money and 100% waterproof.  Had mine about 3 years and they just work

Point taken with Richa. As I understand there are different levels of quality with them. I've had very poor gear from them  in the past but a mate had a fantastic goretex jacket.  I also like Revit. Their quality regarding leather is very good.

I wonder why none of the online tests feature rukka ?

A mate at work suggested halversons as good as R but cheaper.

I like the idea of wind deflectors as well - I've mentioned before that the mirrors are excellent deflectors as well though.
