I would like some advice on the Front Wheel Chock for storing baby..

Now I have a proper motorbike garage Im looking at ways of storing it in there. At the moment I stand her on the side stand. This is a challenge as I try to keep her over to the left but not to lean on the mirror.

I was thinking if I had a Front Wheel Chock it would be easier..

Would love your opinions and advice  :ohplease:

- perhaps keep her more on her center stand. Keeps the oil in their happy places and everything is nice and balanced.

Deb - as pistole said I'm not sure why you don't just keep it on the center stand - you've already paid for it and that's what it's for.

If you're finding the bike hard to get up onto the centre stand I can see where the front wheel chock might be useful but honestly I think using the centre stand is more about technique than brute strength.

Glad you've now got a proper garage for the bike, it makes a world of difference!

Regards

Max.

I don't have one of these but a mate of mine has for his ZX1400. Works a charm !!
I have not got one because I also use my main stand ( as mentioned in this thread by other members ).

O.C.

I have used these when transporting my classic bikes, and basically they are 'ok', but I'm not really totally sold on them, in fact I have had one occasion when a bike slipped out of the jaws of the cradle during transportation

Is your new shed long enough for the GTR, if it is a bit of a close fit then maybe you should reverse the GTR into the shed, as I was just wondering why you feel that you need a wheel chock.

It's vital to get oa cradle that is large enough to accomodate the front wheel diameter otherwise the bike doesn't fit snugly into the jaws of the device - I hope that makes sense.

TBH Debs, I would agree with the others and suggest using the Main Stand on the bike,, save yourself the dosh, for a nice meal.

Personally i would not trust my bike in one of those chocks, my bike like all of ours is worth a lot of cash, trusting it to that would not be good, centre stand for me every day.

Its not a strangth thing, its a technique thing.

+1, only use the side stand to dismount due to creeky knees, then always put it on the centre stand.
Better to be old and grey than the alternative!

- with the greatest respect to debs , i also have lots of trouble putting her on the center stand.

- Mind you , have watched all them YouTube vids about how you're only supposed to use your body weight on the center stand's extension , and not use any upper body strength.

- perhaps its on account of my 55 kgs body weight ....

- but , even then , with both panniers off the bike , I can get it up tidily.

- i also carry a small book (a useless old hotels' guide) in one of the panniers which is about an inch thick. Just roll rear wheel over the book (the pages will shift into a convenient "ramp" for rear wheel to easily get onto) , steady her and up she comes on the center stand.

- another instalment of easy biking tricks for the weight challenged !!

cheers.

I have these on the trailer and yes sometimes they are a bit wobbly... the one you have indicated does look a bit flimsy...

I have one sumit like this http://www.on-bike.com/products_bikegrab.htm that i use for the Tuono..
She is like the Bumblebee, she should not fly....... and yet she does!

Debs

Ok thank you guy for all the feedback and opinions..

I have decided not to buy a wheel chock and put her on the centre stand..

That makes real sense. I just didn't fancy pulling her up on the stand because shes really heavy.

Why would you try and put Debs on a centre stand?
