Does Debs count?  :whistling:
Most certainly! Sounds like you are on dodgy ground there LW and lining yourself up for a Deb size slap in Devon.  :mfr_lol:
Better to be old and grey than the alternative!

Greetings, I know you said in the dry, but does this count?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EKJFZbKO8Ko

This was at Bedford Autodrome, in the wet on a "racetrack" surface, If you watch about 24-26 seconds and again at 55-56 seconds,(if your quick you can see and hear it slide), unfortunately, what you cannot do, is get the GTR to hold it there. (i've tried).

reason:  The GTR's traction control is a "safety" derived device and cuts all power once it decides to cut in.  but will save you...

If you turn it off it will slide nicely, but I don't have an endless cash budget to fix it if I bin it - If someone wants to sponser me, I'll certainly give it a go, in the name of research!

Hope this is what you are looking for.

Oh, also ment to say, the if you keep it pinned when the traction control has cut in, it wont release the traction control, it keeps it turned on until you close the throttle - not sure how much you have to close it, but either way, you have to at least start to close it, pinned or static, it stays on!.

I want the big K to put the 1440 lump and electronics package in the GTR for 2013!  Then I'll give it another go!  :-)

O.C.

I hear a whisper that the 2013 GTR will have a number of upgrades, I'm not sure exactly what as yet, maybe Bi-Xenon lights plus new colours etc.,
BE KIND...

SirToU

Yes, we'll, mine is coming up for 3 years old.... So a 1440 GTR with extra goodies for Xmas would be nice....

Thanks for the VID. It certainly gives me a better understanding of the system. This is one of my concerns in the dry. If you close the throttle and the TC turns off ( whilst leaned over ), it could result in a high side !!??. Perhaps better to keep throttle open when traction control kicks in but that is easier said than dome.

Morning all... Traction control..... well come on who else was gonna taunt it  :gunsmilie: ...

In the wet tis easy, just open the thottle too much... in the dry is a tad more challenging... you need a nice long, 2nd gear bend, allow the bike to settle, get it right over, hang off the bugger and apply lots progressive throttle... if you are using the force (as you should be) the rear should begin to 'move'... when the corner opens up flick the bike up a tad (just like ya fav moto GP rider) and nail the thottle.
Rear will loose traction and you will pogo up the road, nuts whapping off the tank as the TC kicks in....

Or you can do the whole thing again with the TC off and leave cool black lines fer ya mates to go 'OOOOOH' at

Oh ... just a note of caution, don't try this unless you are absolutly sure you know what the fook you are doing... this is a tick one learns at Race/ Stunt schools .. not on Bike Safe ..

Have fun .....Mogs  :smartass:

Mogs that sounds like fun I'm sure, but why would anyone want to deliberately induce a skid or loss of control however brief with their GTR especially on a road?

I learnt to 'drift ' the rear when i was racing, it kept happening when i first started out and then i would shit meself and crash... so i went away to the california superbike school and did  all 4 levels, it taught me a great deal, including drifting the back end in a controled and safe manner.

Not that i would ever do it on a public road mind you....well not all the time anyway..  :gunsmilie:

Not that I'm an expert in these matters, but as far as I'm aware, the traction control is designed to stop high siding as well and cuts in really early, the other restriction you will have in the dry, long before it starts to go completely pearshaped is ground clearance.

If your pushing it beyond the footpegs going down, then surely, you wouldn't be opening the throttle that hard to break traction, unless your either a) very skilled or b) very much out of comfort zone.

But that's my opinion...  :-)
