Have any of you tried to see if the traction control works on the GTR ?? I am not talking about damp or wet spots but in dry weather whilst leaning the bike and opening the throttle hard.
Would be interesting to hear if anyone has tried it and what the results were. I have been surfing the "net" to see if there are any videos posted but have only found videos explaining how the system works.

Deon, you could be the first to post such a video!  :whistling:

@Lonewolf,
Perhaps I should !! My son is racing here in PE in about 3 weeks time. They normally have the track free for practice on the Friday before the racing on Saturday. If I get a chance, I will put the GTR on the track and check it out. I don't know whether or not I will be able to capture it on video though but will see. If I do, I will post on forum.

Deon,

I would not recommend trying this unless you are very confident in how a bike handles on the limit.

The GTR has a lot of rear grip, and not enough power to spin the rear wheel when you are anywhere near upright in the dry. To get the rear loose on the GTR will require being cranked right over, and whilst I imagine the TC will intervene enough to stop the rear lowside, it does not have enough engine control finesse to stop the slide, grip, highside that I personally think will happen.

I have triggered it a number of times in the wet, and in the ice - all fairly upright at the time. It works a treat in these conditions.

It is not as advanced as the ZX10R system, and I really don't think it is good enough to rescue the bike on the limit.

Just my 2p.

Looking forward to seeing the video proving me wrong though  :mfr_lol:

Martin.
65,000 miles now. Loving this bike.

Deon

Yep, point taken Martin. I have read about guys scraping footpegs on the GTR ( not seen it though !!! ).
Anyway, one way to find out I suppose !!!!

Good hospitals in Port Elizabeth?
Better to be old and grey than the alternative!

Thanks for posting the vids Bondu !!

@Gonome,
Great hospitals in Port Elizabeth ! Just a pity that I don't have medical aid ( health insurance ) though !!!!

PS : Sorry, I tried inserting the LOL image but cannot do it !!!!!

The only thing I have noticed on a dry road is that the front wheel may lift off the ground a little bit if I give her too much throttle but that's about it. And in the wet it's just brilliant.  :yes:
Still haven't succeeded to make her fly, though.  :whistling:
The later you brake the longer you go fast.

Deon

Yep, I've experienced that as well but I am very interested to see how it will work when you get hard on the throttle with the bike leaned over.

keith
