Do all GTRs have metal dust caps on the tyre valves as standard?

I got my bike second hand and the metal caps were already on. I've had no problems up until now. Unfortunately the front cap will now not budge. Two pairs of pliers and much swearing achieve nothing.

Any ideas? Searching online it seems common on cars and the solution is to rip the (rubber) valves out and replace. Not a straight forward option on the GTR.

A bit late now but never use metal valve caps on alloy stems they WIll corrode and seize , beware that the stems are brittle and won't take sideway load . You can try warming them a little this often helps .

O.C.

the OEM cap is Black plastic.

You could try a small amount of solvent like WD40  and let soak overnight, but keep it away from your brake discs

Why do they seize
if being removed regularly to check tyre pressures?

Dissemalar metals cause galvanic corrosion , what is this tyre pressure thing it's only flat on the bottom. :mfr_lol:

I've still got my sensors and read the pressure at the start of every journey. and as I arrive home.

The tyres have held pressure really well, so the cap hasn't been off for about six weeks.

I check my tyre pressures regularly with a gauge. Don't rely on tpms as not accurate reading so have to take caps off.

Always do a physical check with a gauge, I do mine before every ride, piece of mind, the TPMS is a back up while on the move for me.

The sensors on my bike match two of my trusty tyre gauges, so I'm happy. Getting 10-12k from a rear and 8-10k from a front (Michelin Road Pilot 4 GT  just for PRD) so something must be OK.

Just to let everyone know it wouldn't budge with even two of us using mole grips etc. It is now off though after a small vertical cut was made with a Dremel (clone).
