 your spies/grass have de wrong info, vot dey haf heard is dat I tried the Aprilia Caponord to check if it was all its cracked up to be.........................and it isn't , in fact its mucho crappo and it certainly doesn't provide a 'magic carpet ride'   :nono:  your spies have added 2 and 2 and come up with 22  :mfr_lol:

The only other machine I made enquiries about was a Triumph Explorer, with a view to seeing if it was a good/better bike, but a simple trawl/lurk on the Explorer Forum clearly demonstrated that it isn't all that good, it was a case of market intelligence, I didn't even bother test riding one.

No Steve, The Big Versys is a very hard act to follow, not everyone's cup of Rosie Lea, but none the less very underrated, I even think I would get annuver after this one which already has 4000 miles on the clock in just over 3 months......... .I'm.lovin it

So much for police intelligence then !!!!!!!!!  :mfr_lol:

It didn't come from a Police source, it came from a Kawasaki source.  :whistling:

- maybe the new FJR is something to consider.

.

Something that I definitely am doing, especially if the Candy Red comes our way, but I've heard that doesn't seem likely. We will wait and see.

Im pretty disappointed with all these warranty issues with the GTR, I love the bike, but they really need to up their game in the quality of the stuff.    As we all know, things aren't made to last like they used to be unfortunately........ :nono:

I've had 3 GTRs and only had one small warranty issue with one of them, where the headlight adjustment knobs fell off, there was a couple of recalls but besides that the bikes proved to be outstanding...I don't think that the GTR is ay better/worse than any other manufacturer at the moment...There are other makes out there with substantially worse warranty records

Would that be 3 GTRs in 5 years OC ?      How many miles did you do on them, 30k ? 40k ?  Just intrigued as to why you kept changing...

Winston Smith

The GTR, as OC says , is no worse than any other machine on the road.

A couple of recalls, which in fairness were belt and braces jobs, unlikely to cause issue, but just in case, where a lot of other manufacturers would have just awaited warranty jobs as a cheaper option than full fleet recall and amend.

Other issues which are intermittent/not safety issues per se, i.e. warping discs (more down to owner not cleaning them properly - I was one of them!), ignition issues with earlier models, flaking exhaust paint, were sorted quickly with no quibbles through warranty.

Where there have been slight quibbles, Kawasaki have met owners half way.  Biggest issue with any of the above has been poor dealerships trying to fob off (no pun intended) to avoid having to carry out warranty or go through the process (like they're that busy with new deals now-a-days?!!).

I was impressed with my GTR and the back up and warranty that came as part of the deal.

I don't think they are any worse than other bikes/marques

And before you ask, I sold mine as I was offered a deal so good I couldn't turn it down on the K16 which is in a different league to all other GT's currently on the market - And I am not 'dissing' the superb GTR which I still rate as one of the best bikes I have ever owned and still enjoy when I test them!

My first one was Black 2007/8 bike which did about 9000 miles, the second was Blue, which was not such a good bike, it had the "buzz" and choppy suspension, I changed it (foolishly) for a K1300GT EE, which I then changed for an R1200GS both of which were horrible, for different reasons, (the K1300 does have the most superb engine though), and my third one a Green 2011 model which was/is an absolutely stonking bike, and was changed due to personal health problems,  for a much lighter brand new 2013 model Versys 1000 in late June this year .

The Versys has now covered just over 4000 miles since June

I agree with your opinion on the green one, despite the few issues ive had,  i have become very attached to her and it will take something very special for me to change, if i dont , all work will be done by myself even though it screws up the warranty !
Hitting service schedules every 4 weeks is not good for the pocket if taken to dealers  :whistling:

[nods] The service interval on the GTR is ridiculous.
