I think the GTR is a fantastic and lovely bike....  but is it really £13500 worth of metal and plastic? with all the other bikes on the market?

I priced a KTM 1190 Adventure R with all the bells and whistles - for £16300..... with a 10% discount that would come down to £14700...  its now in a comparable price range and is it really worth it?

the question is, what are you going to use it for? and is it worth that much extra.....  To me, prices are getting to the point where I don't think they are worth the "money to use ratio"..... and I use my GTR.....  its not just an adornment in the garage.....

Would I take my 16k bike offroad - why the hell not?  its been designed to do that!  do I ride my GTR like a tourer - yes, how about a sportsbike - yes that too.... can I use it to show up sports bikes - hell yes.

at the moment the GTR is the right bike for me.....  If they tweek'ed the equipment, I would certainly consider it...  :-) but it definitely requires updating - ZZR 1441 engine and electronic in a GTR frame is the one we need on the street....

It all depends on the cost of manufacture Neil

We all have different requirements due to different reasons, the GTR is a fine machine...no doubt about that

Neil,

Are you posting on the right forum???

You seem to be saying you own a 1400GTR, this forum is for Versys/ZZR/GS owners only i believe....  :whistling: :mfr_lol:

SirToU

hmmm, I agree - that's questionable at the moment!  :-)

their just traitors and gate crashers because this forum is so good!  they might have sold the bike, but don't want to leave the GTR Owners behind!

We love the underdogs in the UK, so we'll let them stay, because we're too polite, nice and ride the fastest bikes!  ;-)

LMAO

Horses for courses Gentlemen

If we knock 10% off MRP of our bikes across the board the difference in price is the same (a level playing field)  From a salesman's point of view there is no bad product....................just some that suit different people in different ways!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Me ? ................ I'm more than happy with the sports bike compromise I chose.  But respect others for the choice they made knowing they have personal preferences and desires that need fulfilling.

May be we have something special in this site ????.......................Should we rename as "Friends of GTR" ???  :mfr_lol:

:ninja:

Hans

For that kind of money.. I'll have a close look at the K1600GT!
Cheers,
Hans

I would have loved to have been able to keep my GTR but as you may recall ill health forced me to get a lighter machine  :hammer:

I stay on here because, in the main, I enjoy the company and resulting banter, and also like to think that my experience of having owned 3 GTRs since 2008 that I can offer some constructive comments........I intend to keep posting on here, as I don't consider myself an "underdog"

BTW, I've been riding Kawasaki's for a very long time and have remained, and am still loyal, to the brand, with the many 70s Triples etc., that I've owned in the past, I still have two Triples in my rev shed.

It is very unlikely that K will make any major changes to the GTR for some time.
The GTR1000 was essentially unchanged from 1986 to 2006 with just a wheel/fork/instruments/saddle update in 1994 and colour changes most years.
The ZZR is a different beast. It is generally bought by "faster than everyone else" types who tend to be younger.
The GTR is bought by more mature, more sensible riders who need a fun but practical ride.
Once the GTR gets too sporty for them then they buy BMW tourers and Goldwings. Old mens bikes.

Just love your analisis of the market George  :mfr_lol: ...................so if I've got your thoughts on product and its target market correct.......................

The next generation wing will have a tail lift for stowing the mobility scooter ?

Future K1600 will have heated comodes as stanard fitment?

Roll on old age

Boomer

The Wing will have the builtin commode, the GTL will have a BMWPCS (Pumped Catheter System) that sucks you dry.
As for the Mobility scooter,..... errr isn't that what trike conversions are for? Sorry Richard.  :mfr_lol:
