With all this discussion of a meet, do any of you fancy a track day in spring/summer? I'm thinking Oulton/Donnington and for those brave enough, you can take your GTR!

If you've never done a track day you should seriously consider doing one. It improves your road riding as well as getting you out of trouble (like the corner I hadn't anticipated and just had to drop the GTR into it. If I hadn't done any track days I would have crashed. Simple as that).

I normally hire a bike (~200) with a damage excess of a maximum of 400. I have crashed it once but the damage was 150. But that was me trying to take a corner like a pro.

Hopefully some of you will be up for it.

I'm a wimp. I wouldn't have the bottle to do anything like that I'm afraid.

I'd do it but would take the GTR.  I've done loads on sports bikes and they really do teach you what your bike can do (as long as you don't think you are [insert your favourite motorcycle rider ] )

I would probably be up for it as long as it wasn't raining.....

I've thought about taking my GTR. TBH I'd go around faster than on a sports bike, but I'm wary of the cost should I come off. Which tracks would you be interested in doing?

You would, trust me. It is an absolutely adrenalin fuelled event. You're not racing but rather assessing your riding abilities on the track - something you can't do on the road. Trust me, you'll love it!

Now that's an idea - we could all do a track day at the meet.

I am addicted to my track days (next one is 3 days at Portimao in 3 weeks) and I have to say I would advise *against* taking the GTR on track.

Granted it would be a huge giggle, particularly on a 2010/11 traction controlled bike, but I do think you will absolutely murder a set of front brakes and rear tyre in a day. That £300 disks, £100 pads, £200 rear tyre cost would be much better spent hiring a 600 for the day - typically £150-£200.

Just my 2p. worth.

Martin.
65,000 miles now. Loving this bike.

I'd be more worried about coming off the bike to be honest. Dedicated track bike for me
