I picked this up from the GTR USA site

Looks like KHI are planning to release a GTR 1400 in the States in 2022

It would be great if the model was resurrected and revamped for 2022. I suspect it has always been more popular in the US than here in the UK, I never fully understood why it didn't really take off here and why sales of the model were relatively low in the UK.

However looking at the specs of the proposed 2022 version, what's different? I see no mention of a TFT screen as so many bikes have these days. No mention of integrated sat nav in the sports TOURER, no reference of heated seats or cruise control, adaptive headlights, hill hold etc.

I'd be interested in the actual specs of the bike when the details are officially released

Agreed Steve, I don't have or know the volume sales figures for the GTR in the good ol' US of A but I suspect it will be substantial enough to justify another production run, maybe of the same 'old' GTR (Concourse)

We will have to wait and see what develops

The GTR is a great bike , however motorcycle technology has moved on considerably in the past few years, making the GTR appear 'dated'

The 2022 is no different from the 2017-2021 models, with the exception of the colours.
It's not a new bike

A pin stripe eh? Hm, very innovative, I'm tempted  :sleep1:

With the GTR1000 sales ended in the UK with the 1999 model. In the USA it continued until the 2006 model.

With the GTR1400 sales ended in the UK with the 2017 model. It will probably continue to be sold in the USA for a couple more years with just annual colour changes.

Whether we get a truly new GTR after that remains to be seen.

Fair point George,  I'm doubtful if market demand will justify  another production run, plus the last engine configuration didn't meet Euro 5 emmision requirements

When I bought mine (which was probably one of the last ones around) I was told by the dealer that they were running it through 2018 until stocks were exhausted and it was unlikely to be revived.

Kawasaki it seemed wanted all bikes to sit in three categories: Ninja, Z, or Versys. The GTR just did not fit with the plan.

It's a shame that there is no big bore shaft drive bike, but the truth is that I am not really in the market - my GTR should do me for some yaers to come.

The fashion these days is for adventure bikes, tourers seem squeezed out at the moment, perhaps trends will change but maybe not before the world goes electric.

You're not likely to tempt some of these boys away from their BMW's now I'm afraid.

I used to live in the USA (I'm English) and brought a 2010 Concours (GTR1400) back with us to the UK in 2016. Its now 2022 and she's done 26000 miles and looking a little tired so thought I would buy another romaine in the USA (16000 US dollars) and ship it here. Unfortunately once I started looking into it, there are 3 taxes to be added, a 6% import duty, 20% VAT and a new tax levied in 2020 as a result of a Trump vs EU argument, this one a whopping 25%! So the cost of a 16000 USD bike shipped home (approx 1000 Sterling) plus the taxes resulted in a £21K!!!..... so I bought myself a late 2017 3K miles GTR1400 from my local dealer for £10K. Kawasaki are still making the GTR (concours) for the USA, Japanese and Australian market but not for us here in Blighty....a real shame, if you love your GTR get a late model one before they disappear.

Welcome along Gary, it seems that the dreaded tax man has made importing bikes like the GTR an expensive experince

Good to hear that you found what you wanted locally
