O.C.

anyoneout there, it'svery quieton here just now.

I haven't ridden my bike for some weeks due to a combination of poor weather and a very sore hip, which is an ongoing problem.

Hopefully better weather and less pain will  enable me to get out on the road before summer ends !

So what are you  guys getting up to ?

I know someone who is very excited because he is off to Scotland ... me ? Sadly 2020 has gone wrong like for everyone else too.. bike trip up North, down to Somerset and a weekend in Warwickshire all binned and hoping that Scotland in Sept may be ok but the auto Emails coming back from the campsites make dim reading !
BUT ... the bike did get a wash this afternoon !
Poorly hip Roger ? .... an old injury or just old ??

Lonewolf

I thought everyone must have been out on their bikes as it's been dead on here.

FINALLY, I am off up to Scotland tomorrow, it has taken some doing but I'm all packed, fuelled up, and raring to go. I've had a couple of rides recently, the last one being to Brid just to give the bike a decent run. It was rammed so the locals will have been grateful for the trade I'm sure.

I guess you could say an old condition for this old man   :mfr_lol:  unfortunately it's one of a few other 'health issues'  which I'm 'enjoying' at the moment

Have a great trip Steve, I hope the weather holds up for you, and we expect your usual excellent report...ride safe and enjoy

#5
had shortish ride out today, (the first time in a good few weeks) the weather was dry, and sunny with temperatures around 16°c so very pleasant conditions ....... BUT....the pain in my hip and leg was bad... very bad, so much so that when I  arrived home getting off my bike was ,  shall we say, difficult,  the pain was  :censored: awful.

I fear that a tough decision may have to be made before much longer       [ /color]

Do you need a hip replacement? One of our neighbours had his hip and knees done, he's now much more active than he used to be and he's pain free.

Yes Steve you are right, I think that is the answer, next stop will be my local G.P and I'll see what happens from there, I think that due to Covid-19 that there is a loooong waiting list for this kind or surgery at the moment

Hey Ho it could be worse

I also know of a few people that have had this operation done, in fact my old school pal, who now lives in Cornwall, has now had both hips done over the past  couple of years, he too is now basically pain free

How's the trip going... mid term report ?

Rog, my wife has had both hips replaced and the difference from before the operations is quite amazing. She can now walk long distances, often more quickly than I am able to do. The downside is that the scar tissue causes lots of chafing on clothing and itching at times. A small price to pay though!

Before the first operation, she was using a product that I saw advertised in a newspaper whilst on a motorcycle touring trip in Scotland. It is called Flexiseq (note spelling) and available over the counter from chemists such as Boots. This is a cream that, after a few days of use, is absorbed through the skin and forms a layer of tough gel within the joint. This allowed her to walk much as normal, without much pain with daily application. Incidentally, when she had the first procedure, the consultant said that the hip was one of the worst that he had seen in someone of her age.

The difference after the operation is so pronounced that, if it were me I would forget about spending on cars and bikes and pay for a hip operation instead. You will, I am sure feel like a new man afterward!

Rog, a few days to work into the joint and I'm sure that you will feel very different. I've introduced a few people that I know to it (no connection with the company myself) including a 35 year old female work acquaintance who was virtually couch - bound whilst waiting for an operation and all have reported good things with it. Now she carries her small son around with confidence!

Incidentally, after daily use for a month or so, the skin around the application point seems to wrinkle quite heavily. A week or so of without using the cream allows it to recover, and then you start again.

I think I'm going to give it a go it might help the constant pain I get in my back!

O.C.

its a sign of the times when we old boys are taking about aches and pains   :mfr_lol:

I will report back after using it for a while

As long as we're still here to complain about these things, there's not too much wrong!
