A place I like to visit when possible for the scenery and great biking roads is the Lake District. Within the Lake District is the notorious Hardknott and Wrynose Pass just on the outskirts of Ambleside.

In anticipation of the subsequently doomed Scotland bike tour that should have taken place in May I acquired a drone, love them or hate them, they can provide some awesome footage in the right hands.  :mfr_lol: (not mine).

So, as the Scotland tour has been postponed until August, I thought I should practice as I intend to take it with me and attempt to get some breathtaking footage of the Lochs and mountains etc providing the weather is kind.

So here is a short clip incorporating some biking and drone footage for your amusement and entertainment as I traveled through the Wrynose Pass last week. If you like the video please give it a thumbs up and possibly even leave a comment, that would be appreciated.

Bloody fantastic... and that is your first drone footage ???  nah never, far too good for a first timer... you must have been practising surely

Where were you hiding when you zoomed in on your bike .? and does the Drone provide a visual feedback to the control so you can see what you are filming.

Good stuff Steve

👍 crap  :mfr_lol:  :mfr_lol:.
Very enjoyable I must have been starting to drift due to the music as when you pressed the horn twice on the hill it made me sit up and concentrate  :mfr_lol .
Can you see what the drone is filming on some sort of monitor.

:mfr_lol: Thanks guys for the comments. I think that was the third time I had flown it, they're quite easy to master. When I zoomed in on my bike I was simply stood out of range of the camera angle. You can view what you are seeing and filming through whatever device you have hooked up to it. I started off using my phone but now use an iPad Mini which is perfect. It displays your altitude, distance, actual speed, wind speed, how many satalites you're connected to, whether there are any other aircraft nearby, etc, etc.

I can't wait to try it out up in Scotland.

Excellent!

The drone footage mixed in helps add to the sense of the road's place in the landscape.

Great footage. Both onboard and with the drone. What drone are you using, please?

:mfr_lol:  Now I know you didn't watch it to the end. It tells you at the end of the video, it was a DJI Mavic Air 2. It's an awesome bit of kit.

Rusty

A Mavic 2 ? Steve .... I know little about them But I know that IS a classy bit of kit ... Brucey has spoken of them

Lonewolf

Its the Mavic Air 2, not to be confused with the Mavic Pro 2 which is larger. The Mavic Air 2 was released a few months ago in the UK and whilst it is cheaper than its bigger brother, apparently it has some advanced features as standard which its more expensive bigger brother doesn't have. Technology advances and you have to take advantage of it.

I had a look at the setup on line it looks so easy  :mfr_lol: then I saw the price 😱
A lovely bit of kit 👍 as you say technology changes that quick

What I know about drones could be written on a postage stamp with a felt tip pen  :mfr_lol:

So I googled it and it is an expensive bit of kit.... but as they say quality doesn't come cheap and you get what you pay for

You just have to pray that you don't crash it or worse still come down in water! Now that would be an expensive error.

Impressive, that first shot with the drone following the sunlight up the hillside is awesome.
Drove that road prior to doing Hardknott in 2016 in my old S-class.
We stopped halfway down and went for a paddle in the stream.
I noticed many of the sheep running from you but then I guess with lockdown they aren't as used to traffic as normal.
Either that or you need a better deodorant  :mfr_lol:
