Weatherspoons have announced that they will be reopening their pubs in June.

Unless I am mistaken it isn't their decision when they reopen. Do they know something the rest of the world does not?

If, hypothetically pubs were to reopen as early as June, how would you even control social distancing inside them?

Feel free to discuss and share your views.

In the last few day I have noticed an increase in road traffic. I'm wondering if people are getting fed up with lockdown and are starting to break out. As lockdown goes on I think it will be harder to maintain it.Greggs  are already starting to open up branches and other fast food outlets are following. As for Wetherspoons they want to go back to making money and if punters will go in they are in business. Not sure what gov can do to enforce it since the police etc have been run down so much. Plenty of people will drink given the opportunity. They know the virus won't get them!
Driving tests are cancelled to June as well. June does seem to crop up a lot.

There is an expert on here who is in licensing who may be able to explain exactly what the Police can do to enforce the closure of public houses.

However, you say Greggs are re-opening?

I don't know about being fed up with the lockdown, which in fairness must be incredibly difficult for some, but I'm fed up with the constant bickering of the U.K media, all they do is constantly look for scapegoats, and I am fed up of listening to that tripe

It seems to have escaped the attention of some Pete.... or maybe they think it doesn't apply to them

Germany lifted their shut down the other week and already their victims and deaths have started increasing again.
So as someone said who decides Witherspoon because of their loses or the government.
As O.C. Said people are not listening to the covid warnings.
As some are aware I am a bus driver and passengers are increasing daily not all are care workers ,workers or essential journeys. Which annoys me as they are to brain dead 💀 to see they are putting me and my family at risc.  :censored: :censored:

Perhaps what I read was a creative play of words by the press then. However if the lockdown was lifted you would expect them to reopen wouldn't you along with all the other public houses. I do wish the information in the press would offer some clarity.

PRD

A little more clarity from the government would help as well.

Our restaurants/bars (VA) will be opening up the 15th of May for outdoor seating only.  Sadly I only frequent the bar so I most likely will not attend the opening of my favorite place.  I don't like sitting with the rabble even when things were 'safe'.  I'm thinking our governor decided that based on Mother's Day crowds.

I had to drop some medication off yesterday again down the Ards Peninsula, right on the coast road. Took Mrs Mc and we went in the car as we wanted to go for a walk too at one of the nice spots currently deserted. She had brought a flask of coffee and a couple of biscuits so, once delivery and walk complete, we parked at the harbour of one of the villages (probably best to be vague which) to have the coffee before heading back. Saw 2 bikes parked up (one I think was Yamaha MT10), riders chatting but more than 2m apart. Because it was so hot, we got out of the car and sat at a picnic bench there, well away from the bikers who were the only other people within a mile. Two minutes later, a police car turned into the harbour road (cul de sac) and went past us slowly.

Picture mature couple sliding into car and departing having gulped coffee down.

Doing a runner from the cops for the heinous crime of imbibing coffee.

Sadly, I'm fairly sure they gave the bikers fixed penalty tickets.
