I'm on my second GTR and have been riding GTR's for about 8 years. I really like them.  However I am toying with the idea of a Yamaha FJR 1300. They are now in their last year of production and come with all mod cons esa, cruise control etc. Should I keep the GTR or jump ship and go for a FJR?

Go for it! You can always come back and at least you will now if it suits you better!

Go test ride one Pete. I don't think they are as good as the GTR, but they are a good bike.

You don't need a new bike you need a f-king boat or even a submarine if it carries on raining any more

I always liked the look of the FJR in my opinion its a well designed bike, which seems to get good write ups, Yamaha added a 6th gear in 2016 and that has apparently improved the bike even more

I would advise firstly visiting a dedicated forum and then a test ride to see if it floats your boat

that is the plan. It will have to be good to be better than a GTR. And of course is it worth spending the money for a few up to date features.

We have a number of FJR's on our bloodbike fleet.
Subjectively, I think they feel lighter on the road, but as heavy when wheeling them about.
Dash display is a bit more 'modern'  compared to the GTR's twin dials.
The screen IMO is a lot better than the GTR's, one thing I really hated about the GTR was the amount of trial and error to get a half decent 'noiseless' ride.

I took a test ride on an FJR1300 before buying my GTR. IMHO they're a  good bike, but it didn't stir the soul at all. Capable, quick and after 5 minutes I felt at home on it. Unfortunately for me, it looked, sounded and went OK. Looks wise, it was black which made it anonymous looking to me.

OK is what you need if you're buying a diesel van to haul stuff but not the feeling I want from my bikes.

You might love it. Whatever you choose, health to enjoy

I've ridden a couple of them.  In my humble opinion the GTR is the better bike.  The latest incarnation with the 6th gear is an improvement, but the only one I'd consider is the top-of-the-range one with electronic suspension and halh decent brakes.

But not at £18000

Exactly, is it just me or are bike manufacturers increasing their prices beyond belief.

O.C.

No it's not just you and it seems to be almost 'epidemic' proportions.....

I think PCP has had an effect on RRP as this method of purchase tends to make everything look affordable
