I'm obsessed with tyres; only bit of the bike that touches the road.  I fitted Avon Storm 3D X-M and am very impressed.  I've had Avons on lighter bikes in the past but they handle the GTR really, really well and are great value.

They compare really well against the Michelin and Bridgestones

Just my opinion.

Going to try a set of Continental Road Attack 3 GT version,if the price is right ,otherwise Angels will go back on.
Probably wont get the same kms out of the rear, reason ECU has been upgraded to the Mountain Runner flash,as a consequence there is buckets of low down/mid range and top end power on tap now which I have no doubt will increase tyre rear wear.
But time will tell.

I've been a big fan of the AVon Storms starting with the Storm 2 then latterly the Storm 3DXM (although accidentally fitted Ultras once, grippy but wore out a lot quicker lol) for many years and many miles on ST1100's & CBR1100s.

I'm currently running the Avon Spirits  (replacement for the 3D XM which is now, according to a chap I know who happens to be a area rep for Avon, officially classed as "entry level" but still damn good) on the GTR and just love them

The Mountain Runner flash will actually increase your tyre mileage slightly.
I've had it's predecessor the Decel Flash for 2 years and my PR4s lasted 9k on the rear.

Back from France after the Angel GT's were fitted, nice and stable, worked nicely in the dry and the one occasion where it actually rained, well, 'spit' for 5 mins.

Other than the front end trying to fold on some loose grit and having a bit of a sphincter moment tyres worked great.

I am a big fan of Avon having moved away from Michelin. The new Avon Spirit tyres are excellent and really speed up the steering of a long heavy bike. I have previously had the Avon X-M and loved those but the Spirits are better again.

I hated the standard tyres on my newly purchased second hand 2016 GTR 1400, the bike had to be muscled in to corners but to be fair was rock steady once in to the turn. The GTR being a heavy bike made me decide to go back to Michelin and the Road 5 GT which were finally available from last month. The tyres have transformed the bike and it feels fairly nimble when on the move and drops in to and out of the corners with no effort. How long they will last, time will tell but initially impressions are very good.

On my second set of 5's not GT's tho.
Most riding is 2 up, went to Lakes Maggiore and Guarda this year, went to Norcapp last year.
I love these tyres.
Reasonable life and they stick like shit to a blanket.
I can throw the bike about and having ridden in cloud bursts and a whole day of torrential heavy rain riding from Bergen to Kristiansand (two up fully loaded) can guarantee their wet weather performance.
when all else fails read the manual

Sounds like you cover some miles Ray, a credit to you.

I prefer the Angel gT's I find them  excellent and now am on the mk 2's. I used to get a lot of punctures with Michelin's.

Strange that you should say that Peter, the only two punctures I had were with PR4 and then PR5 both times on a GTR..... BUT  the tyres are superb to ride

Hello!
Has anyone experienced the Mitas Touring Force? I only read good things about them. I just ordered a pair and I'm very curious how they feel on the road!

I used to use their Sport Force+ on all my bikes, Local dealer was an agent for them, first ive heard about this Touring force range, will speak to my mate who owns the Garage and get a truthfull review. i used to get all their Mitas at xtremely low cost prior to touring europe and came home with genuine reviews for the company...

Today I mounted the new shoes, with 190/55 on the back. They fit perfectly, after only 100 km they look great. I will be back with more details after several miles..
