I am needing a 16000 mile service and been quoted 2 prices. the first is for £500+ which includes valve checks. the 2nd £300+ without the valve checks from a kawasaki dealer who then informed me that the first quote isn't needed until 26000 quoted from  kawasaki themselves.

On buying the bike i was informed that i need to service every 4000 or 12 months whichever comes first. How can they say that it is  a 15000 mile service?

Does anyone know where i can take it for  a cheaper service in the Halifax area as i don't trust the 2 local back street garages.

Thanks

The major service is at 26000 , minor is just a oil change and check over ,, oil change do your self ,, it's a 10 min job , use motul 10-40 semi syinthetic, the gtr is a simple bike to work on save yourself a lot money by doing it your self , plenty of vids on YouTube showing how . Or advice on here .  :biker3:

The air filter is also worth looking at.  Again a DIY job, although a bit long-winded. Also do the bevel box oil.  Easy peasy as well.  It only uses 150ml, so a bottle will last years.

I had the 26K service done at 25k.  11 valves outside the range..

The riders handbook gives exact and clear details of what is to be done and at what mileages. You are not due valve checks yet. As said here you may be able to most of the service yourself. I have always used my local dealer up to the last service at 26000 when I took it to Taylor Brothers in Stafford who came recommended from people on here and also they do Stafford Blood Bikes servicing.
