Hi all,

I've recently purchased a 2008 GTR1400 () and find the wind buffering quite bad with the screen at the max height. After doing some research I thought about purchasing a Laminar Lip, however it appears that for pre-2010 models, there's a different lip depending on whether you have the standard screen or (presumably) a Kawasaki after-market taller screen.

The issue I'm having is finding dimensions for the two screens to find out which mine is! After looking on countless parts websites and Google Images, I still cannot determine which mine is. It contains no company logos, and is around 600mm from the top straight down to where the screen ends (so above the "fangs" either side). I don't want to buy a Laminar Lip only to find it's for the wrong screen  :mfr_lol:

Does anybody know which screen this is (if it's even a stock screen!)? I'm hoping we can build this thread in to a resource containing maybe images and dimensions of different screens to help others in the same position in future.

Cheers!

ChrisB

Hi Halfpipe
Where are you? I have a 2009 GTR and the screen for 2008 and 2009 are the same but 2010 model on are different and require a different laminar lip to suit. I am in Stockport and if you are local you can pop round and have a look at my screen and lip.I am 6 ft tall and found the buffeting worse than the wind and have tried the standard screen with and without laaminar lip and also a Powerbronze screen. None of them as good as they should be for me. I have more recently just been using the standard screen without lip and have drilled 3 2 inch diameter holes across the bottom of the screen the equalise the wind pressure in front and behind the screen. So far this has worked for me and does not cause any problems for my wife on pillion.
I think Kawasaki cottoned on the the wind pressure business some time ago as the later models have a flap across the front of the screen.

I'm in the Midlands, but will be up your way around the 9th/10th April. If you're around, then I'd really appreciate popping by and comparing screens! I am also 6ft, and find the buffeting to be quite bad on the GTR with the screen at it's highest (coming from a VFR 800).

If anybody else reading could post their screen height, that'd be much appreciated. I'll update my first post with a list of screens and their dimensions.

No problem, we should be around at home both days. Send me a pm a few days before you head up norf to make sure we are still around and I will give you address etc.
I may also be selling the laminar lip so don't buy one until you have called.
Cheers
Chris

Excellent, cheers Chris! Will give you a shout in a few weeks, much appreciated. If my screen is "standard" then I'll be happy to take the Laminar Lip off your hands if you're looking to sell

Brizzlerob

Thanks to Pross I have 2 screens - the short is 495mm and the larger is 563mm (I'm guessing the latter is the standard)

Boomer

I have 3 screens, the OEM shorty, a Calsci Large and a Calsci Extra Large/Extra Wide.
Shorty for hot weather, Large for Spring/Autumn, and the barn door for Winter. :D
