Guys

I have this famous white smoke at ignition kicking my ass for the last 3 years

I have reached the 48kkm and I would like to take advantage of the service that I am doing to change the seal that is an issue

Can you confirm it is the ring that goes on the crankshaft senso part number 92055-1639 that is the issue?

I am going to order it

Thanks

Yes that's the part number but it's on the exh cam sensor.  The problem is that the OEM part is not quite thick enough to do the job so replacing it with an OEM one will also leak in short order.  I use a slightly thicker one I get from a bearing supplier assortment.  It is firmer to push the sensor back in and therefore seals.

Any idea where I can find your version of the ring online? :-)

Not easily.  I use one out of a small O ring assortment from an auto store.  I can't remember if the Metric set or the Imperial set has a better fit O ring.  They are only a few dollars so get both.  From memory it is either 16x3mm or 5/8"x1/8" imperial.  I think the OEM ring is 16x2.5mm.  It's been a year since I have replaced one, sorry.

Just done this on mine, can't help with the size as I used one in my o-ring collection.
However it was slightly bigger and you do need to push a bit harder to seat the sensor.
I used a very thin smear of Blue Hylomar non setting, to lubricate the seal before I fitted the sensor back.

The ring seems to be 20mm large OD on mine (i have just removed it)

Technically, O rings are measured by the inside diameter (ID) and cross-section width.

badaboum

Yes i know
This one is defenetly not a 16 by 3mm

Ill see if i can make a better measurement

Thanks

Thought mine was going the same way, till a highly respected independent spanner man said to check the rocker gasket first, and fair play, he was right!
Intermittent smoking on start after a few days park-up. Slight weep would occasionally collect a pool near exhaust headers, burn off was impressive!

Yep, that's the one!
Full of valve gear and lots of oil!

If the rocker cover gasket is leaking I rectify it by adding a 13mm fibre washer under the head of each bolt, one at a time.  They're about 0.5mm thick and add enough crush on the gasket to seal it.

I had my one ( a 2008 model) delivered last week and started it up yesterday for first time and it was quiet a lot of white smoke , sounds a similar thing.
More worryingly it's been bought from a Kawasaki dealer and just been serviced, time for a call I think.
