Why of why do we have to keep going through this silly rigmarole of bartering for a decent price on a bike?
I recently spoke to several Kawasaki dealers for a price on the GTR. In as many words I said, I will pay cash, no trade in and I want a gray one with the GT kit.  Give me your best price first and I'll buy from the guy with the lowest'.  Simple.
A little scurry of emails later and I get a dozen different prices and 1 is, in my view a very very fair price.  Out of courtesy, I email back the other dealers to say thanks but no thanks and 2 of them responded with 'we'll match it' without, I may add, even knowing what price they've just agreed to match!- for Gods Sake - why not give me your best price first like I asked.....

Anyway deal done - new bike in 2 weeks.

It can be so exasperating with some of them.....you would think that they would all be within a £ or two the same,  but it just goes to show how much markup they have to play with.. :2guns:
With all the beautiful things in the world, only man could invent boredom.

They are bound to be different, it may depend on their current stock position....for example why would they want to discount something that they don't have much stock of, or maybe they have too much stock of a particular bike and they will discount it heavily in order to reduce that stock

Dealers usually finance their new and used stock so it pays for them to be careful about giving away their profit, they may also enjoy target related bonus's for selling their new machines, therefore one more sale can mean a big difference in any bonus they may earn, hence they can sometimes sell a bike very cheap in order to hit their target...kerching !

At the end of the day you are looking for the best (cheapest) price and they are trying to make the most profit that they can whilst still securing a deal, it's not rocket science

You would think within a few quid of each other, but from the dearest to the cheapest was a smidge over £2,000 - certainly pays to shop about!

As bmw are over priced I expect you can get more discount on them.

Pretty much gone are the days.

Back in 1991 I bought a brand new Kawasaki GT550 and for the list price managed to get a colour coded rickman fairing, some top opening panniers, a helmet & some gloves included.

Was a cracking bike :)
