Did anyone watch program about eBay scammers the other night , and how they scammed 1000s of gullible folk , all these deals must be done out of eBay , plus sending money up front , there is always loads of fraudulent bikes for sale on the newly listed adds , the price tells you its not right , plus it's always out of eBay ,   Still they get loads of victims,  caught the people doing it all Romanians, all got light sentences considering how much they got away with ,    Buyer beware ,,,

Yeah I watched that, they'd been investigated for quite a while hadn't they?  When I was advertising my K16 on eBay I had one very persistent potential buyer who offered me the full asking price without a viewing and insisted they would pay by Pay Pal on collection. I asked them for a phone number so I could call them to discuss but they reckoned because they worked on the oil rigs they weren't allowed access to a phone which is a load of tosh.

PayPal payments can be reversed so genuine or not I wasn't going for it. Ultimately I told them if they wanted it they could collect it from my place of work, Police Headquarters in West Yorks, maybe it was something I said cos I never heard from them again.  :mfr_lol:

That's where we Brits go wrong.
Our judicial system has it's praises sung worldwide, but the sentencing is so often a joke.
Lock up these parasites for a long long time without snooker tables and televisions, something like a dungeon would be ideal.
Then our crime rate would reduce substantially.
And let's get these ar*e holes currently in prison doing some hard labour too. Make them earn their keep.
There's plenty of litter to pick up, canals and rivers to collect shopping trolleys from, and even the elderly's lawns to keep trimmed (although I'm not sure how that one would work without putting the elderly in the firing line).
Something must change otherwise the criminals will always win.

Totally agree with the above. We have Armley Jail not far from us which has been open since 1847...it's a hell hole, nobody likes going there.

Fools and their money are soon parted . Paying for a vehicle before you have even seen it !

Beware when buying sometime on any online site if the seller asks for payment via PayPal friends and family. There is no protection from PayPal when using this form of payment.

A mate of mine sold his Porsche Boxter to a guy who came over to view it in Halifax from Germany. It had been advertised in Auto Trader or something similar online.
The German guy agreed a price and took the car back to Germany promising that once he got home he would forward payment for the car.

Now anyone else would have insisted on payment immediately, I can't think of a situation where a sane person wouldn't. However my mate was very daft, trusting and let the man take the car without one single pound exchanging hands. Needless to say his wife went totally apeshit when she found out later that day.

Do you think he ever got his money?  :mfr_lol:
