Just to let you know the 24th is also the big bike ride veloride a 100 mile closed route just be aware when heading for the meet hopefully it won't bother anyone going
It's causing chaos with unpassable roads and junctions

Thanks Tony, with those who've replied think mainly motorway will be used getting there, planned route will miss the bikes, but might be issue if planned finish at Leominster east to Kidderminster is used.
Bigger concern is what weather is supposed to be like!   :undecided:

Looking at the Cosford web site, they charge £3.00  for parking per space.

I wonder how many GTRs you can get in a single space.............

snowy

When I called up to check she said just buy a parking ticket and keep it in your pocket in case use is challenged!
So, me thinks 1 ticket for as many bays as we use!
I'll get one when I arrive, and just see how many turn up.

Ok, well I'll be in the car park at RAF Cosford Museum from 10:00 on Sunday 24th.
Signed from M54, Just off jcn 3, taking A41 towards Wolves, petrol station / Spar shop 100 yards on from traffic lights where you turn right for Museum if required.
Forecast looks fair, so hopefully there will be some interest.
I'll have a mobile with me - 07398519204 - in case contact required.
Ride out as posted in first update, 103 miles, 3:30 hours, suggest leave Cosford 11:00.
That'll be finalised on site between those who arrive!

We'll be there....as we like our Sunday dinner we're thinking that nearer the time we'll peel off and find a pub. Looking at the route it maybe around Clun or Knighton then we can head back through Ludlow/Kiddy...talk about it tomorrow.

Cheers Brian & Rosie

Still planning on getting there, although I am trapped in a loop by the Birmingham Velo - can't go East, West or South from home but I think I can escape Northwards traffic permitting.

Looking forward to it.

Well I'm up...on my 2nd cuppa of the day...it's 12c outside so looking good.  We're hitting the road at 09.00 so should make it by 10.00.

Found a pub in Clun called the White Horse,  looks ok for Sunday lunch.....let the good times roll.

What a great ride out....many thanks to Dick for putting together a very interesting route.

Rosie & I pulled into the garage at the top of the road near the Airforce museum to fill up we didn't want to have to stop later on. As we pulled in there was a guy on a GTR that turned out to be Peter so together we rode down into the carpark.

Within 10 mins both Rob and Dick turn up...making 4 bikes for the ride....off into the cafe for a cuppa and to chew the fat.

Group photo 1....Peter, Dick Rosie & Rob.

Group photo 2.....Peter, Myself, Rosie & Rob.

After our cuppa we took a quick look out the back at a couple of planes.....the museum will need another visit later in the year, as it was only the meeting place and there's loads to see...can't wait.

The final photo,`we tried to come up with a collective noun for a group of GTR's....any suggestions????

We then set off heading for Clun, I'd found a pub that did Sunday lunch there.  After a chat, it was decided that all of us would stop off there, as the thought of food was strong.

To end the day we rode on finishing at Leominster, where we stopped at a diner,  a final cuppa the sky started to darken and spots of rain fell,  so we all hit the road heading for home.

What a wonderful day out....again many thanks to Dick.....here's looking forward to the next time.

What a bostin' day!
Much like Brian and Rose meeting Pete in the filling station, the same thing happened to me & BrizzleBob!
4 GTR's, five folk, all out for the same thing, and with dry roads and a fair wind the day commenced!
Love the RAF museum, didn't have chance to tour the halls, but just to savour a few machines that supported GREAT Britain was a taster for a later date!
Tootle by the Iron Bridge, still amazes me how Brunel came up with that idea, and it's still there today!
Run to Church Stretton had the fantastic views towards Shrewsbury from Wenlock edge, then up the Bur Way onto the Mynd.
Great views, so nice to get the 4 steeds lined up for the pics (collective noun, suggest GORGE, derived from GORGEous!).
The drop down the Mynd towards Bishops castle was challenging, 1st gear in use to stop the beasties rolling away!
Then the A488 to Clun for lunch, (meeting mad Belgian Shepard mutt who was going take on any motorcycle!) onto Knighton, Bleddfa, to Pennybont -
wonderful piece of tarmac with twists and pitches! :sweet:
Then the A44 to final stop at Leominster, another bit of quality road, all the challenges we love - sheep, twisties, hills and good long straights.
No speed records claimed, no casualties to the strategically deposited horse manure, just very wet on the last leg home, especially when me and Pete crossed the Severn to Bridgnorth!
Great company, glad the roads were appreciated, and still got home in time to get SWMBO out for an anniversary meal!  :sweatdrop:
Can't top Brians' pics, but best memories safely stored till memory loss kicks in!
I have a few videos of the route, but as no anti-shake control needless to say it can be a tad nauseating!
If needed let me know and I'll post on Youtube.
Here's to the next one!

See how I set you up for the collective noun Dick.... :mfr_lol:  we'll have to get onto Oxford dictionary about it...

Thank you Dick for a wonderful day. It was nice meeting you, Pete and re-meeting Brian and Rosie. A great ride with beautiful views. My ride back was almost as lovely except it didn't have the good company. Fortunately my ride home was not really hampered by any rain bar the odd spot or two. I did get to pass the military styled 4 Counties on their return to their respective abodes - didn't you read the sheet? This is a fuel stop not a tea stop!!

Thanks again Dick for a job well done.
