Reading this with interest. I have Angel GT's fitted to the gtr but am still getting used to the bike so can't really fully comment, good grip 2 up in the dry.
Concerning PR4's I also have an unfaired Suzuki sv1000n that I bought new in 2005. I ride to the German SV meeting in early August, last year was a 7hr ride from Calais in torrential rain.
It was probably the worst ride I have had in nearly 40 years of riding. Sticking to the inside lane of the autobahns which are heavily trenched by the trucks and were what seemed 6" deep in standing water the PR4's only lost grip a couple of times in what were really dreadful conditions.  My last tourer (Guzzi) had BT23's on but everything is going to get Pirellis going forward because of the performance in the wet. Coming back in glorious sunshine on the Sunday I did the same journey in 5 hours and made full use of the unrestricted autobahns. Really great tyre.
when all else fails read the manual

I agree ,the Pirelli Angel "A" are an outstanding tyre in both wet and dry conditions.Last October on a 450km ride in torrential rain their performance was outstanding, handled as though one was riding in dry conditions,no slip or slides when banking into corners.
Once this set wear out they will replaced with the same.

I have been singing their praises for ages. Some people though are obsessed with pr3/4's. Not as good.

I've just been quoted £240 for P Angel ST front and rear fitted. As on bike now and £350 for GT's . The bike handles beautifully fully loaded wet or dry. Only really worth changing to GT's IF I were to get significantly more miles from them.....

Just had a set of the new Avon Spirits fitted, £268 all in fitted to the bike.

Not scrubbed in yet but first impressions are good, feel much less wooden than the Bridgestones which were on the bike when I bought her.

Fingers crossed they'll be as good as the Stoms 2's & 3Ds which I've been using over the last 7 or 8 years

Any updates on this? I had PR4's on my Z1000 and thought they were fantastic, anyone tried them on the GTR?

yep.....me.....and they were fantastic in dry or wet plus they warmed up very quickly.

I can't comment on their longevity as I changed the bike after 2500 or so miles with them, and shortly after the dreaded rear puncture , others will be along now I'm sure   :whistling:

BTW mine were the GT version

Funny how we all interpret tyres and their feedback differently ? For my GTR the Road Pilots were simply stunning in all areas and now I have moved to the dark side the Michelin Annekee 3,s are fantastic and I have had them fitted twice, which is most unusual for me as I always like to try something else !

Pirelli Angel GT have travelled approx 12500 kms, nearly worn down to the indicators on the front, rear not worn as much.Excellent tyres in all conditions IMHO.
The majority of riding is on longer trips with the GTR fully laden.

Question:Has any body tried the new Metzler Roadtec 01 HWM on their GTR1400?
Interested in feedback regarding noise, handling in dry and wet conditions.
Possible replacement for the Angels?

PRD

Angels are great was going to try mew metzeler

the pr3's were ok,i then tried the pr4,the front tyre from a cold start felt as if i had a flat tyre, never again, the pr3/4's are good as a puncture magnet,'ll stick with the angel's.cheer's PRD for giving me the heads up,'m very confident with the ANGEL'S fitted.
