Battery tender that double as Jump leads ?

Given my screw up on Sunday (Or rather Saturday, not switching off the bike at the 'key') I'm now a little paranoid

The likelihood is I'll never do it again, but, I was wondering if there is a heavier duty battery tender (trickle charge cable(s)) that you could actually use to jump start the bike if the battery was flat.
I have a small trickle charger now that keeps the battery topped up and (at least on my old bike) fully functional. The gauge of the wiring is pretty small though and appears to be fused with a 4A fuse. I was worried about frying the existing cables if I tried to connect a battery to it.

Disengaging the lock trying to get to the 'on' position was a pain in the ass (or impossible) without power, so jump starting the bike was not an option.

Curious if anybody has thought about this already.   Would save me hedging my bets carrying around 5mm/6mm allen keys and some small jumper leads.

My version is not man enough to jump start a bike, but I have an optimate extension lead, and I made back to back male adaptor. I carry a pair of optimate crocodile clips  as well, this way I can connect to another bike/car and gently charge the battery using my bikes optimate fly lead and any car/bike with a 12 volt battery.

A friend of mine who had his bike in a garage remote from his flat went one better and fitted one of these under his numberplate, connected to his battery with starter motor cable

The other half he connected to a set of jump leads, then he could jump start his bike from his car.

Cool, I'll have a look at that, the connector is more than grunty for the requirements.

The problem I foresee is getting cables chunky enough elsewhere given the tight space there, I'll see what options are available.

thanks

Remember you are only starting a motorbike, not a lorry.
If the cable you buy is the same size as that on the bike battery, I don't think you will have a problem, the cable run is only short.
My mate ran one cable each side of the sub frame. I reckon with a bit of thought and panel removal, a very tidy job could be achieved.
