Next year trip shaping up, wife flying to Zagreb for Croatian holiday, I'm riding down  :scooter:
Hull to Rotterdam, through Germany, Austria, Slovenia and to Zagreb airport, collect wife and 9 day holiday touring the Croatian Islands, back to Zagreb for her flight back, then ride back to Rotterdam. ( Work limits her holiday time hence the flights).
3 days to get down, 4 days for the return.
Planning stops for outward and return trip, anyone done this? 3 days enough to get to Zagreb? First day will be longest day in the saddle down to near Heidelberg.

If you sit in the saddle long anough then you should do it in 3 days , when I went to Austria the worst bit was the time wasted. Getting there , the ride though Germany on the autobahn in 37 degree heat was not something I would want to do again , if one of these companies that ship your bike to somewhere close to where you want to be then you just go and collect and ride from there would be a good way to do it , think that your wife has got the right idea ,9 days around Croatia sounds great , 7 days there and back not so good ,

Planning for September, hopefully not as warm  :sweatdrop:, toured southern Germany previously at that time of year. Have done Rotterdam to Heidelberg previously, off the ferry by 08.30 so plenty of time for stop's etc. That will be the longest day, after that plan on no more than 3 hours riding per day to get there.
The cost of shipping your bike is quite expensive I think.

Thanks Pete,
That looks like it was a great trip, lovely photo's, my trip is firming up now for September, going over via Hull to Rotterdam, down thru Germany, Austria, Slovenia and into Croatia, picking my wife up at Zagreb airport then over onto the Islands staying for about 9 days in Croatia then drop her off at Zagreb and riding back up to Rotterdam. Sound's easy  We have done Rotterdam to Heidelburg and Southern Germany around Lake Konstanz and then over into Austria and back via the romantic road, but any tips for Slovenia or Croatia gratefully received, thanks.

Sharing bike trip photos is important

I used to do a write up with pictures for the GSX1400 owners web site for each of my trips but the site went down earlier this year and due to lack of interest from the Admins never came back.

A replacement site has been started but a lot of the original material will never be recovered. I do still have the text of my trip reports though, maybe I will re-post them some day.

Personally I like to read other rider's experiences and try and pick up a few ideas for places to visit or spot things about preparation or touring that have not yet occurred to me.

Enjoy your trip in July.

I was saying to a couple of my mates that went to Spain last year what happened to all the vids they shot???.

Lee had started to edit some footage but like most of us work gets in the way... I've just bought a Drift 2 to slap on the side of my lid, tried it the other week when we went for a toodle, but having the mic where they have it, all you get is the sound of thunder. The wind noise is bloody awful...so I'm going to do a little mod that I found on the Tube by fitting a separate clip on mic inside the helmet.

We're off out later this morning, ride through the Cotswold lanes..looking to finish up at Andoverford for Sunday lunch....then a nice ride back down the Fosse, back home and get ready for a 0400 start tomorrow...
