had the afternoon off work today so took my zzr1400 for a much needed run, called into the ponderosa for a break and seen this excellent 70 classic, so thought I would share theses 2 pics of what used to be the "king of the road" with you all!

getting on now...  but not as old as Rog or Geoff

Looks very tidy and its great to see it on the road as opposed to sitting in a museum or a showroom

yes nice 1974 model, the exhausts are not original and the seat as been recoverd, not sure about about anythink eles. remember wanting one of theses in the late seventies could not afford one at the time, even less chance now! seen these go for £20,000 plus in concours condition.

The Z900 and CB750 where the first superbikes. Never had the Z900 but did have a CB750 in 1976. There's a mint CB750 in the Honda Knutsford showroom which brought back a lot of memories when I went there for a demo on the VFR1200F the day before the GTR demo - guess which I prefered.

??? let me guess? love the seventies classics all the stokers had most of them over the years! most recently had 1977 honda 550four some guy made me an offer for that I could not refuse. my favorits are the kawasaki kh 400, 500, the mad as hell 750 and of course the z900, and of course the early honda 750 four just to name a few that would be on my list if I won the lottery :)

Remember the KH's very well the 750 was notorious for trying (succeeding) in killing/maiming anyone who thought they cold ride it so doubt very much if many survived.

Seem to remember that most insurance companies refused to cover it as they where guaranteed to receive a claim

Only had the KH250 myself which is what I traded for the CB750

Had many great bikes (+cars) over the years but the one I regret selling the most is the original black and gold Ducati 900SS the early 80's version not the later crap that had nothing in common other than the name. Still think it is THE most beautiful single minded motorcycle ever made and had the handling and performance to match makes a modern day ZX10 look like a full dress tourer.

Absolute joy to look at, to listen to and to ride not so great to own - well it is a 1980's Ducati

Haven't even got a photo of it to remember it by - I'm not crying honest

Just had a quick search and came across this photo

funny really! since the seventies have had so many bikes most of the rds and the kh stokers, but theres one I wish I still had in my garage, now dont laugh? suppose it bring back good memories for me with it being my first bike, 1976 YAMAHA FSIE even remember what I paid for it brand new, £299.00 sadly did write that fizzy off trying to race my mate on his suzuki AP50. hate to admit it, but the AP50 was allways that bit faster >:(
