Is it possible to attach a trickle charger to the 12volt 'cigarette' lighter in the fairing ?

Has anyone done this?, what charger do you use?

I have just had a Garmin fitted and didn't put the charger wire on the battery and don't want to mess about with it again ?

It is only live with ignition on so no to charing there is a mod that can  be done to make it permanently live . Direct contacts to the battery would be best .

I have an optimate lead attached to the battery terminals and simply connect that and away she goes, most stuff as Charlie says is switched.

I've never bothered with an Optimate.

First reason is because I live in a flat and have no where to plug it in, secondly I rather ride my baby to keep the battery topped up.

Not to bad, tools needed are basic ones plus a warm cup of coffee and hopefully a small cake, then all will be well.
