I think its the Autocom active rider 200, but its been on two bikes so far and a little scruffy, i shall check when i get home as its in a nice box on the bench.

It was a bit of a squeeze under the seat on the Sprint ST what with the up your backside exhaust but once in it stayed in, i also had my radio in the topbox stuck on with Velcro, nice and high.

Ive used Autocom for years. I cant comment on the other systems. But I have always found Autocom very good . There customer service is second to none. I think you will find Autocom are the systems they use in Formular One even...

Not quite right Ziderman.

F1 use this: Riedel Communications

And Ridel's website: http://www.riedel.net/

They used to... would that be before 1993?   ;)

"Riedel Communications' involvement in Formula 1 began in 1993. Now, 17 years later, Riedel is responsible for the communications infrastructure at all races worldwide, and equips nearly all Formula 1 racing teams, as well as the Formula 1 organisation and the FIA. Various racing circuits also feature fixed communications systems installed and maintained by Riedel Communications, such as the highly-acclaimed Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi"

A question, if i put my Autocom under the seat is there spare wires i can connect both the autocom and radio to? if so what colours do i need to tap into?

Thanks
Alan

I cant recall the colours now...some one did put post on here showing the wires. There are two lots of Aux wires , the ones you want for the Autocom are actually buried under the rear cowling behind the seat beside tail lights. They can take a bit of teasing out if I remember rightly. The other set are down some where in front L side fairing I believe. They I guess you could use for the Radio...

BigAlan

Right that gives me a start, i will try to get the Radio in the top box as per my last two bikes with Velcor sticking it to the side, i never take the topbox off and feed it from an ignition live source, i used the tail light feed on the Sprint.

As for the Autocom i could do with another igniton feed and the front one may be possible to extend rearwards a little.

I can see me spending the second weekend i have this bike in the garage "sorting" stuff, the first weekend i am riding it to Wales.

You will be able to place both the Autocom and your radio under the seat. Both can then be extremely easily wired up to the spare accessory leads to the rear of the bike. You do not need to splice into any cables. If you can hang fire 24 hrs I'll find the instructions and point you in the right direction. I'm off to work in an hour or so, so can't do it now.

BigAlan

Thanks very much, the more info i have the better prepared.

We have a radio ham here who says "to high is not high enough" when it comes to the radio, hense it has been in the top box on the last two bikes.

BigAlan, here you go. If you have a look on this thread at page 1 you will see some photos of a previous installation I did. The fifth photo shows the accessory cables you will use. Do not confuse these with the ones which are visible just in front of them, they are diagnostic connecters for the ABS system. The ones you need are tucked away in the rubber boot at the rear most part of the bike. You can only get to this rubber boot by removing the tool tray and then carefully removing things to one side. There is no need at all to unplug any of the connectors, there is enough play in the cables to just move it all to one side. Once you have the rubber boot in sight, carefully prise it out, fish around and you will find two connectors with male and female bullet connectors. These are your accessory connectors.
On the GTR the accessory connectors are coloured, Black + Yellow = Negative    Black = Positive
On the Autocom, Red = Positive    Red + Black = Negative.
Simply use bullet connectors or something similiar, I take it your radio will plug into the autocom and will be powered from that, however if it needs a direct power source then there is no detriment to wiring the radio and autocom both into the rear connectors.
For future reference there are identical concealed accessory leads on the GTR under the front left fairing again in a black rubber boot. Additionally you have the cigarette lighter power source to the front right of the GTR.
Hope that is of some help, if not feel free to ask away.

BigAlan

Excellent information, thanks very much.

Prob a posting to Lonewolf, I can see how the Autocom fits but sod that trying to get the tool tray out, i shall make a connection from elsewhere, but hos do you get the PTT button up to the Handlebar?

I have tried all ways but cant seem to get a route there without me busting something on the fairing?

Its almost give up time and sell the Autocom and simply remain quiet.
