Evenin'.
Looking for some info on fob battery life. :ohplease:
Pulled away this afty, knew the fob was in the tank pocket (2008) got to the first T junction, horrible red lamp on and message "transponder missing" or something similar
Rode home, switched off, checked pocket and yep, there it was, so placed next to KIPASS switch, all OK so off to fuel up.
In crowded Asda filling station in sweltering heat, would it turn back from FSS to on? Not a chance!
Paddled to kiosk to pay, sweating and cursing profusely, paid, put fob next to switch - all OK!
New batteries fitted last May as recommended by the dealer to see if fixed TPS issue, so batts only 14 months old.
Is this about right for battery life, just over a year using bike 2 or 3 times a week?
Is that what happens when batteries start failing? Does KIPASAS play up in the heat, or am I heading for sad (expensive) times?  :censored:

I have only changed one fob battery in five years and that was 18 months ago.

I replaced mine twice in 6 years at a cost of around  a pound each. As far asI am aware, the fobs do not communicate with the tps whicvh are a seperate and more expensive issue. I always keep a spare fob battery under the seat and the glovebox for the car. If desperate you can get a tiny bit of extended battery life by warming it next to your stomach or back. The extras heat gives it a bit of a boost in emergerncies.

If the battery is low, remove the seat and place the fob next to the KIPASS ECU for a stronger signal

I use the same as what boomer said bought in bulk of flea bay or Amazon they cost pennies
I suppose it depends on how often you start the bike to how long they last I put one in when I have my bike and will wait and see

I replaced mine just recently...  I got the low battery issue and had issues with the switch at the same time.  Once I replaced it, all was good again.  I don't carry spares as the backup is built into the fob and the battery can be found anywhere here in the US.  I'd only carry a backup if I was riding somewhere very remote.

So, explains it all!
Changed mine for the same as was fitted when purchased, cr2025 fitted, same voltage and diameter, just thinner and less capacity!
No wonder they've given up the ghost after 15 months!
So, off to get some 2032's later and hopefully have a longer period before fails again!
Thanks all.
