Im used to getting 1 master key (normally red) and 2 standard keys, well i did with my ZZR and FJR, with cars it normally always 2 keys, i know bikes do vary 3 or 2.

The Yamaha Super Tenere has two 'normal' keys plus a red master

My car has two fobs

Hi All, i have just moved home and lost my FOB in the move, no doubt it will surface at some stage, i do have the small credit card sized spare.

..... Simply carry the bike all around the house until the key switch operates, your fob will be close by. Hope that helps lol

Yep, that is the best thing to do or set the bike up outside and carry everything by it..

It seems that the 'cooker knob' cannot be removed if using the emergency key only....I'll have to check   [/color]

II've tried it and you can remove the key.

So basically no need for the fob.

I can recall from when I had my GTR that when completing the insurance schedule one of the questions was IS YOUR BIKE FITTED WITH AN IMMOBILISER/ALARM

If you clicked on YES it then opened up a drop down menu and one of the options was KIPASS.

This is why I have always been under the impression that the KIPASS was a security feature.

My insurance accept kipass as security measure

You are not disabling or removing the Immobiliser.

KIPASS is just an RF method of turning off the circuit.

So there should be no issues, or Kawasaki would still supply 2 remote fobs.

Just imaginethe sh1t Kawasaki would be in if you took them to task if you had an insurance claim refused becauseyou had mmisplaced your remotefob and was using the backup.

O.C.

therefore the fob initiates the remote starting facility, whereas the emergency key has to be held against the headstock for a couple of seconds, so its about convenience then i.e its easier to be within radio signal range than it is to hold the emergency key against the headstock.

It begs the question what happened to the good old fashioned key in the ignition idea    :mfr_lol:

It is until it works so well, even the rider cannot get the bike to work. :mfr_lol:

Thankfully none of these issues arise on my current steed, BMW obviously know how to look after their customers, we get two keys and two fobs. The fobs operate the alarm and central locking or alternatively you use the keys to start the bike in the traditional manner and the onboard computer automatically activates or deactivates the alarm and the central locking for everything is operated from a button on the bars.
