If the dealer can't connect to the bike correctly then I would guess that either he doesn't have the right diagnostic equipment or maybe there is a problem with the bike's can bus, hence no correct information on the display. That is only a guess though and as the other guys say, will be worth a trip to a kawasaki dealer for a correct diagnosis.

I suppose that until the bikes instruments are fixed you can still use the bike by filling the tank setting the trip and ride for 160/180 miles then fill, up again
