Hi all, I'm thinking of trading my VFR 1200 for a 2013 GTR 1400 & wondered if there's anything I oughta be looking out for, got a test ride Friday & if all goes well I'll be signing the dotted line.

Welcome along, you've found the right place for good info about the GTR.

Basically there are no issues with the GTR it's as rock solid and bullet proof as any bike on the market, some (very few) owners have experienced slight warping to front discs, but in most cases it's not severe and it only seems to affect a few bikes, if you are test riding your intended purchase and this problem exists you will notice it through the bars under braking, in such cases owners with this problem have had the discs replaced under Kawasaki warranty.....I want to emphasise that it isn't a common problem.

Otherwise you will enjoy the GTR which whilst being a hefty bike rides with a low centre of gravity making it the ideal tourer and also very exciting on the twisties and it's plenty quick enough to satisfy most needs and also surprise a few power rangers  :mfr_lol:

There is a wealth of good knowledge within this friendly forum plus a regular amount of p*ss taking to, so join in the fun

Good luck with your demo and let us know how you got on

Oh.......don't forget to take your wallet with you for the demo as chances are you will be buying a GTR

I've had my GTR for about 3 weeks now and love it. I came to it from a Tiger Explorer. I tested the VFR 1200 amongst other bikes, I had half a day on it, the dealer brimmed the tank and I still had to put some more fuel in to get back to the shop lol, its a lovely bike but very thirsty.

I travelled over 130 miles to go and see my GTR, something I have never done but it was more than worth it. Its powerful enough for me, handles brilliantly (I've nearly lost my chicken strips haha) looks good and is more comfy than the VFR. The only thing I find awkward is filling it up, I don't know how or if the big key comes out so I have to use the spare key in the fob to open the tank, its a faff but its the only negative I can think of.

If you turn the stove switch to right it comes out.

The best comment I ever heard from anyone was from a friend after he took a ride on my 2007 1400GTR.
He said "Feels like a VFR800 on steroids and does not feel like a shaft-drive at all"

Thanks for all the welcomes & feedback, all reviews seem to favour the GTR & I think my mind is pretty much made up so apart from the test ride bike being faulty I'll probably be a proud owner in the near future.  As for the VFR can't fault it tbh apart from the sports bike tank range it's a good bike I'm just in need of a change. Bikes are like women you get one see another model & want one of them.
