I'm still not sure, but it was an interesting exercise.  I'm thinking it's the speedometer itself which translates into big money unfortunately.

I believe that the instrument cluster is shared with the ZZR-14 (ZX-14) so that should increase the size of the replacement pool.

Think I'd be checking the wiring resistance and any pins on the plugs before jumping to buy new clocks etc
