Can anyone tell me on the pre 2010 model the center glove box on the tank, when you press in the button should the lid flip up? is there suposed to be a spring because mine doesn't and is very fiddly.

Its easy enough to remove this box.  there is a lightweight spring in there somewhere and its easy to foul it .  I bet if you take the whole thing off it will work perfectly on the bench!

On mine I have always had to push the button in and the lean on the back a bit for it to pop open.
Works fine on the bench. I just put up with it as I rarely use the glove box.

Manage to repair my glove box, it was a broken plastic lug on the frame where the cogg pushes on. Super glue did the trick and now opens perfectly.
