What's a long process Richard? I heard it can be up to 6 weeks...

Its just taken Donna (my partner) about 6 weeks, most of the delay was caused by the doctor not replying to 2 letters from the DVLA.... doc reception said they had not received them, and when they do get them it takes 4 weeks for doc to fill in the forms as they have to do it on their own time. In the end Donna got the doctors fax number, got DVLA to fax the form to him, then made an appointment to see him.

All this because about 12 years ago when she was in the army, after a 4 day bender she collapsed (what a surprise!), some army medic suggested it could have been a fit, and DVLA were told, she then lost her lorry licence. Since then there has never been anything else, and she has never been examined or treated in any way, yet every 2 and now 3 years she has to go through the whole process of renewing the licence.
DVLA can not / will not accept that she has not had any treatment.
This time it got to the stage DVLA said if there was no contact from doctor who was treating the condition in 7 days they would revoke her licence.
None of this is helped by the army losing all her medical records for the 5 years she was in, so the only reference to any of it is 1 letter the DVLA has.

Unfortunately, after the Glasgow Bin Lorry incident, there will be more stringent enforcement [particularly for vocational licences].

Fair enough...  Never drove one of those.   A bit slowish for me, though.
