Have you heard about the 2016 model GTR, are there any planned changes for the 2016 model year and beyond ?

The question of the ages...as far as we know, not much in the way of changes..except colour for over here.

Yeah, I'm sure you're right Jim.

I was just thinking it's over 7 years since I owned my first one (which was probably the best one I had,  and it was Black) :mfr_lol:  and whilst I've seen the latest models on Kawa UK website I wonder if they will do a radical update or maybe drop it altogether....it doesn't sell in huge quantities and the new colours moondust/carbon Gray and Slate Blue aren't great in my opinion.

Time will tell I suppose

It seems to me that Versys 1000  GT is aimed at same market. Now if it only had shaft drive. Suspect GT R will fade away.

thanks Garfield, I had seen that, and now realise that I haven't worded my OP very well

I too suspect that the GTR may fade away. ..if it does it will be a great shame, lets hope KHI remodel and update it for the future.

I still fancy another

They have done something with the ZZR1400 but it's only available in green!!! One day they might just get there rear in gear.

Sadly, why would KHI make changes, when the bike sells well "as is"?  I waited for the '16 to be introduced, to replace my '08.  Hoping for better engine response, brighter colors, and CRUISE CONTROL.    As none of those things happened, I picked up a slightly used '11, for half the cost of the new model.  Using a VStream screen, so the hole in the factory screen deal didn't appeal to me.   Thought about the Versys 1000, but wanted more element protection and a more relaxed cruising RPM.  The C14 gave me both and a lower price.  I'm happy.

Hi and thanks Tomp, I don't have the actual U.K GTR sales figures but I know that it sells in limited numbers  (probably not well enough) there may well be a different sales story in the States.

I think this is why the decision to revamp/replace or drop the bike altogether could be part of KHIs planning, in the U.K  in the mid to longer term.

The Versys 1000 has been previously mentioned in this thread and that particular model has only recently been made available for sale in the States whereas it has been available in the U.K since 2012 and has sold in big numbers, I am aware that Versys 1000 sales in the States are proving to be very good.
