Ok I know I am not riding the bike right now but that's no excuse to let it go so I plan to remove the front forks and take them to the local dealer to replace the oil and check them over, has anybody actually removed them and are there any pitfalls I need to look out for?

Thanks
Alan

I took them off and did not fall into any pits.  I did, however, step into the drained fork fluid, sadly.  I wasn't happy about that.  Fred Harmon has a good video on getting them out, but you have to buy his dvds to see it.  Someone somewhere may have a youtube video or at the very least follow the service manual.  I prefer videos myself, though.

I have removed them twice to get raked yokes made, once to measure everything, and then again when I fitted raked yokes.

No great problems apart from one pinch bolt shearing off when I tried to undo it, a real pain.

Take some pictures as you go, especially the routing of all the wiring around the forks.

Richard.
