Has anybody changed there front fork oil and if so did you need the specialist tool as suggested in the manual?

Just done my mates FJR and it was easy so read my manual and it seems you have to clamp the fork together before undoing the top nut so if anybody has done it successfully how was it?

Thanks
Alan

I did mine last year and used a tool mounted to the bench to compress the springs.  If you watch Fred Harmon's vids it can be done without but after watching it decided to get a proper tool.  It was still a bugger.  Stepped in the fluid in the pan and tracked it all over the garage.  Typical day for me.  It was a Race Tech Fork Spring Compressor Tool TFSC.
