I neglected to add that a GS did drop a valve on this years trip but we thought it was down to a lack of oil. The bike in question had set off fully serviced with plenty of oil but blew up after a thousand miles coming back from Prague. Well, there was no oil in the sight glass but it turned the bottom end was undamaged and only needed repairs to the cylinder. The mechanic charged £200 for labour and another £800 for secondhand parts. Then, of course, the government wanted £200 for the privilege of wanting to help with MP salaries.
It's big, it's blue and the plate says 'you have just been overtaken by a pensioner' and that really pisses sport bikes off.

It would be nice to know why you have given up on the GS's. In my group of European riders the GS has completely changed their riding style for the better and those with electronic suspension handle superbly - however the GTR still needs input to get the best out of it and that is very satisfying because I find BMW's are competent but unrewarding.
Nothing against GS's at all. The one I've got now is my 6th. About two years ago I swopped a GSA for an 800GSA which was a nice bike but I didn't gel with it and it killed by desire to ride. I changed that for a 12GS last year and that was better but something was missing.

It was either give up completely or try a drastic remedy. So I decided to look around and the GTR caught my eye. It's big and seems comfy and like most Kawasakis feels like it will bite if you take liberties.

I've returned home if you like, in the past I've owned a GPX600, a ZZR1100, two ZX 9's and two ZX 12's. You could say I've gone full circle. It may be a mistake but it will be fun finding out.

I just fancied a change. Been riding GS's for the last 10 years or so and as I said earlier I'm feeling a bit jaded riding wise, lost the fun factor. Is a GTR the answer? Honest answer I don't know.

But it will be fun finding out  :punk:

I looked at the gtr on ebay you bought Mikey, must be getting old it was too far to go but it is a lovely bike ive just bought a Blue one was going for Green one from in2moto in warrington but i cancelled it due to the rear tyre i know it sounds daft but when i went to see it the tyre was like a mohican the tread stuck right out in the centre i said it would need changing and it passed the mot with it like that so i left it,but must admit the GREEN is better looking
I have bought a 1400gtr so I can open the throttle and spin the world
