in the, seemingly never ending quest for a quiet ride i have fitted a Calsci Large Screen.

the reason i chose this was that heroblobs offer a no quibble return so quite a good idea for trying out a few screens to get the right one. - only on the calsci range though.

anyway. the large is a bit 2-3" higher than the standard 2010 screen and yes! at 70 mph i am sitting is a quiet zone with the screen nearly fully up. however, the top of the screen is right in my line of sight, FFS with the screen right up i am looking through it. this might be an issue in the rain.

but for now, i have found the quiet spot so will keep in on.

ive tried a few and yours is the best , no substitute for size when it comes to screens

i was going to have a go with the puig and then the veestream if this one wasn't any good. But i can live with the line of sight thing now i have a quite bubble to cruise in.
Calsci do an XL as well, that must be proper barn door stuff.

my line of sight is the same as yours, I just drop it a smidge when in town or when raining .

when on the motorway im fully erect

Just bought a Calsci XL wide from Heroblobs today, Jon is a star! Pull up, within 10 minutes XL fitted, covered in cling film in case it goes back, then 20 minutes playing on the roads around Liverpool / Crosby! :scooter:
++ the calculator on thier website to give an idea of what extra height is required is almost spot on for me, worth looking at before you commit.
Good bits - almost silent from anything over 30% adjust height and upwards
               - turbulance - my "bouncing bouy" helmet with std screen fully up is erradicated - bliss - after 60 miles on the M6 to get there really welcome change!
               - well engineered, all holes line straight up.
               - fully down and visor up results in a good controlled blast of fresh air!
Bad bits - being a "sail" there is a bit of flex noted, solely due to size and extra area on existing supports.
             - looking through - personally I don't like this, but lack of turbulance is well worth the cost of line of sight if ever screen is over 70% up.
             - clutch lever just clips screen on full r/h lock - sure this is a bent lever or bar / stanction line up issue, not a major.
Good buying experience, thanks to all on this 'ere forum for advising size matters (dont tell the wife!  :embarrassed:  ) and recommendation of Calsci.
Just gotta get rear pressure sender sorted and check of headstock / stanctions at the dealers next week, think about a seat upgrade as bit aching after 90 mins in the saddle, and find a BAGSTER cover or similar and will be ready for this years tour!

Patience is something you admire in the driver behind you and scorn in the one ahead.

just something to consider with a big screen is the extra pressure it puts on the screen bracket, there have been a few on with snapped. Im guessing it depends on the types of roads, if you are a lot of high speed touring then your snapped bracket odds are higher , nothing you can do about it, repairs are not beyond most diyers and 2nd brackets can be had off ebay

Kawasaki never designed the bracket to have a sail off the cutty sark  upon it

Anyone got a link to the brackets on Ebay? Or what terms people use to find one? Not having much joy & I need a new screen AND bracket!

Many thanks!

no links I can pull out the hat for you , just set up an alert and eventually one will come. Really you need to find a local fab shop if you don't have the skills and get them to make a more beefy one for you from your broken parts

Getting a tad nervous now!
Is the bracket a common failure? Anyone suffered this?
I appreciate that the XL screen places extra pressure on the mounts, is it worth getting them beefed up to avoid breakdown?

if you are doing a lot of motorway miles at high speed and getting them beefed up is any easy thing for you to do, then do it. If you are just local miles then you could deal with it , if and when it happens. However if you have a big euro trip looming then id strongly consider getting the brackets beefed up. We are running the calsi with a non modified bracket and I will certainly be looking at making something to strengthen it before any large trips. Ive not looked at it yet but something along the lines of a piece of 4mm steel plate cut to the shape of the existing bracket (or the vunerable section) , and then sandwiched over or under the existing plate , not sure yet .

Anyone got a screen for sale for an 09? Std or oversize, all considered :-)

About to put a Calsci Large screen on E Bay - unless your interested in it. Used on a 08 plate and travelled to the South of France and back with no issues. Certainly makes things a whole lot quieter.
