Hi All,
is this an easy job?
Looks like a spring and a bolt is all - I need to reduce mine by 1"-2" after fitting a lowering kit (well different dog bones anyway).
I can now sit comfortably on the bike and reach the floor but can't physically get the bike on the centre stand.

Is there any benefit in removing the stand altogether?

Pete the centre stand removal is not as easy as it should be. There is a thread on here from when I did mine last year. You will potentially need specialist tools including a bike lift. I'll find the post and put the link up unless you find it first.

can it be removed by using a front stand to get the front wheel off the ground ?  im sure as long as the bolts have not seized up It should be straight forward, Id GT85 those suckers the night before !

This was my original thread. http://www.gtr1400.co.uk/forums/index.php?topic=3747.15

It's not something which I would do on my own, hence I took it to a garage for them to do.

Just read your post Mr Wolf - it looks to be a tad more difficult than i expected so I'll soak it in WD40 tomorrow and have a go on Friday :)
Your powder coated version came up really well though.

as far as I am aware a front stand should only be used with a rear stand ,

PCPeteUK

didn't think you could use a rear stand on the GTR though ???
