I've done the route, (Hardknott) a few times on various bikes over the years and it is genuinely the most demanding route I've ever done.

Charlie747

Just a quick up date from the front.

Stoketim and Charlie747 met up at Sleaford. Charlie going to Burger King while Stoketim hit McDonalds.

As Colin pointed out with one half of The Wolf Charlie RV navigation specialist team at work we were lucky to meet  :whistling:

Using Zebs route we were subjected to some beautiful roads and scenery lunching at The Cat & Fiddle midday.

Then once off the M6 and into the lakes more breath taking views as we traveled to the Kings Head for beer food banter.

If you can make it we all would love to meet you

Well I'm up, the bike is prepped, and I'll be going to the RV point to meet Asif in just over an hour. Looking forward to the ride up, the weather looks decent so far.

O.C.

A big thanks to Gary who on his beautiful carbon blinged bike showed the rest of us some lovely routes on Saturday morning. Which culminated in coffee and burgers in a harbour by a lake. Fuelled by a caffeine carb and protein rush Neal proceeded to perform alfresco baffle removal and remap on the road side. The rest of us passed a hat around the gathered crowd of on lookers and made a tidy sum £££££.  This was good as due to caffeine intake / wind chill and possible age etc  a search party was sent out to find the loo who's price of admission was 8bob  :sweatdrop:

We said our good byes to a heading home Gary who's wife had informed him by phone 5 mins before that it was sunny and 20C + back home in Yorkshire.

Time to elected a new leader.

After many recounts Colin as self appointed returning office informed us that he had followed Neal for at least 10000 miles around Europe and he was confident that Neal could and would get the remaining party back to the hotel eventually. But that more importantly Neal was in total tune with Colin's Caffine Cravings & Nicotine Needs and would allow comfort breaks at the relevant periods. This new responsibility came naturally to a man of Neals standing and he proceeded to sit down on a bench and stare blankly into the screen of his smart phone in the search for as he put it Green Bits.

Neal launched the herd  / flock / gaggle of survivors at the nearest mountain and the game was on.....................
Just as with Gary in the morning a big thanks goes to Neal for taking us all through some breath taking scenery to arrive at Mrs Migens Ye Olde Tea Rooms for a well timed warm up and refreshments.

While the largest BMI member of the group sat nibbling on a nice fruit scone other far thinner members went for Bombay Bad Boy Chilli Jkt Spud with extra chilli. / Steak pie and chips / even a double pud player with cheesecake and apple pie

Suitably refreshed and fortified the group saddled up and rushed to the nearest petrol station to top up (mars bars twix etc) then onto the Kings Head to meet up with Senior and Global Management for wheel rim inspection.

Inspection was followed by finger prints DNA swabs and mug shots.  The Wolf worked overtime that night  :whistling:

The night followed with much mass eating drinking and banter.....................but that's another story to be told by another

It really was great to meet up and put a face to a name. Many thanks to you all for makeing he weekend one to Rember.

Roll on 2016. The whisper on the street was Galway is nice this time of year  :whistling:

Well Asif and I got back safe last night after a great meet up with you all. Hopefully everyone who attended enjoyed themselves and found the location worth the trip and if you didn't attend for one reason or another then hopefully we'll see you next year.

I can recall Charlie saying, "I'll have a drink waiting for ya when you arrive Steve", but nearly all the gang were out, we passed them in Ambleside on our route in. We were however met by Colin, (flatfour) and shortly after Neil (Viper) arrived.

Here's some photos from the our visit.

The Kings Head has no mobile phone coverage at all, however they have set a challenge to anyone, lodger, passing salesman, walker, biker, in fact anyone who can get at least one signal bar on their phone. Was anyone up for the challenge?  :whistling:

Colin definitely was.......

Regrettably I don't think he succeeded.

We had a visit from Geoff & Roger, a.k.a 100milesaway and OC. After a spot of lunch and a chat they made a move on their steeds.

Roger

Geoff

Roger again.

Eventually the tribe turned up and I was greeted by the warmest Lincolnshire welcome courtesy of Charlie.

Eventually we coaxed the team inside and the drinks and chat started to flow. (Asif & Charlie).

Colin, Asif & Charlie

(Neil & Colin)

I slipped outside and took some photos once the light drizzle had stopped and it started to get a tad brighter.

It's taken some doing.....we've been trying to do this since 2011 but we now actually have the closest thing to a group photo that exists.

Once the gang were outside the bikes were admired, scrutinised and one was even laughed at!  :gunsmilie:

Could it have been this one?

Charlie then caught sight of a bit of bling out of the corner of his eye and a you could almost see his mind ticking over, I believe he's going into production as we speak.  :mfr_lol: .

Asif & Peter

John made friends with a couple of Border Collies which arrived while we were all outside.

Asif then decided this was a great opportunity to test ride Neil's Top Sellerie seat so there was a bit of swopping of the seats and off he went into the sunset. Some said he was going home and that was the last Neil would ever see of his seat but he did eventually return and the man from Del Mont'e say yes, he liked the seat.

And finally we were all seated for our evening cuisine.

And then after the meal, as the sun set slowly in the west, Asif, Neil and I rode off into the distance and the meet for us was over until next year.

Ditto.
Nice pics
But
I couldn't make out in the photo what they are laughing at  :whistling:

I hope it wasn't Charlie's shorts!

Had a fantastic time, was knackered by the time I got home. Was good to catch up with everyone.

Steve, couldn't believe there was a mobile speed camera van out at 10pm on the way back

Great pics, as usual, Steve and a nice report too, Geoff and I enjoyed the ride over despite the very strong winds across the North Yorkshire Dales and I'm glad that Geoff was able to join me for the ride over.

I enjoyed saying hello again and the banter that ensued , its been quite a while since we met.

Sorry that we missed the other lads (and lasses) who were on a ride out but it's good to hear that they had a good time in what is a  beautiful part of the world, there aren't many better places to get lost whilst riding a bike  :mfr_lol:

Great pictures they make me look so youthful

I had a great time really enjoyed the ride outs and meeting everyone. Still reeling in shock after discussing Charlie's thong. Let's do one next week end!
