Following on from Vipers original question, has anyone suffered a broken bracket? If so, how many?
Age of bike, screen fitted etc. etc would be useful.
Is there a picture of a broken one out there anywhere?
Any idea of what material / compound is it? Possibility of weld / brazing for get you home repair? :hammer:
The idea of mine failing in rural Spain / Portugal as supporting a Calsci XL wide is now nagging at me worse than the wife!   :sweatdrop:
Any info greatly appreciated!

 :embarrassed:
Shudda read all of the post that was noted above by Wolf!
So, it can be welded, and will have it apart immenantly to glue the plastic so negating possible loss!
When it fails, is the screen rendered useless? Or is it still supported just disconnected from lift / fall mech?

Hi

I have read a few threads here and on us site about them braking, so decided to strengthen mine.

Drilled through it and bolted a steel plate to the back.
Plate is shaped so it is squeezing the original bracket together slightly, so plate is defiantly taking the load.

Yes, sorry the pictures are a bit crap, next time its in bits I will take some better ones.

try and put pics on that don't need downloading , TBH if they need a download I don't bother looking at them, direct pics will always get you better responses and interest in your thread , the tip is to set your camera to the right size so you don't need to resize , however Photobucket will resize for you and now a lot of forums are making posting pics so much easier with auto resize and built in software that makes going through a host site like PB a thing of the past , The Landrover forum is really easy for posting pics and we should copy their format

like this approx. 600x 800

The photos were taken with my phone, and loaded directly from phone to the forum.
Its not my thread it a reply, if someone is interested I am sure they can wait the second it takes for the picture to open, and then have a large picture they can zoom in on if needed.

Mine broke. Basically it lets the screen rock on the height mechanism. Bodged it with jubilee clips & cable ties. Still like that now.

Anyone got a std screen for sale for an 09, btw?

PCguru

Here's some pics that should have gone on the last post.

The horizontal jub clip goes round the back of the slider to anchor the thing, the vertical one keeps it in place as I move the screen up & down. Not got full movement, but enough to adjust as required.
