Both headlights packed up last week.
Bulbs Ok
Fuses are Ok
Relays under left side are Ok
The multi function relay under the seat was the culprit.
I compared pictures of "Kawasaki relay" on Ebay and checked the part number and bike with the GTR part number.
I bought a relay for a  2014 2486 mile EX300 £23.95 instead of £80 some thing.

Fitted it today

I got all my bike to bike leads pulled out from  under the seat, checked TP's etc and put the video camera back on ready for 4 day Scotland flying visit. Set of 730 in the morning.  (and pur waterproof layer back on riding kit!)

Swapped my UK plate over to a Spanish plate now that I have registered, ITV'd(MOT) and insured it in Spain as it was cheaper and less hassle than returning the bike to the UK each year for the MOT. 3 days riding each way with hotels fuel tyres etc. so my bike ( not the GTR) sits in the garage awaiting my visits to the MotoGP Jerez, WSBK Jerez, relief from the miserable UK weather in December and February when it's still 18c.
I am sitting on my balcony now at 9.55(8.55 UK time) it's 22c in the shade, the Med is glistening in the sun( I don't need to do fancy photoshop to make it look good!)

Back to reality late tomorrow night, back to work on Monday to pay for the next trip in late June

today i started twiddling with suspension settings.

as it turns out the rear preload was maxed out and the rebound set to mid.
the front preload was set to min and the rebound set to max.

i've set all to middle and will work from there. i have no clue what i'm doing but will be fun finding out

Took the old war horse in to the dealer yesterday for service tyres and warranty work. Nice little run out approx 110 miles  :sweatdrop:

Picked up some new boots and an F5MC thingy when in the sweetly shop but no 2015 GTR on display

I recommend you check your charging voltage. Had the exact same problems myself a year ago, and it ultimately turned out to be a failing regulator/rectifier that spiked the under seat relay, taking out the headlights.

You *might* find that your charging voltage is not as strong as it needs to be (mine was showing 12.8V at idle, rather than 14.4) and the bike will leave you stranded fairly shortly.

Martin.
65,000 miles now. Loving this bike.

The regulator/rectifier was changed a few weeks ago, see previous post.
MIGHT leave me stranded???
:help:
You mean like pulling up at work, turning off the ignition and the starter motor kicking in and flattens the battery.
With the ignition off.
Then the alarm thinks the bike is being stolen and shouts its head off for half an hour :censored:

Ah the joys of diy wiring and bad earths  :whistling:

Bike recovered to the dealers by the AA
Starter relay is borked, I think there is a fault somewhere else as this is the second in a month.
To top it off the left fork seal has leaked all over the caliper mount.

Mines just done it for second time. Already changed the rectifier, checked voltage and charging. Really at a loss what to do next. Stareted carrying spare starter relay and tools to change if (when?) it goes again.

Might be worth trying to see how many amps the starter motor is drawing, that should confirm whether its being caused by the heavy side or not. I'd have thought that if the starter was sticking then it would be toast by now. After that it might be a bad joint on the control wiring. There are a lot of common wires that are joined together in the loom, but the only way to get at them is to run a stanley knife down the loom covering and pull it apart. If  I'm reading the wiring diagram correctly, the starter is directly fed from the battery via the relay contacts and is not protected by a fuse, so I'd definitely check the starter current draw first. The only other thing I can think of is if the starter circuit relay in the relay box is intermittently sticking and holding the starter relay in, but I'd have thought you'd hear the starter continuing to crank over. Good luck with it!
