Guys,

Something werd happened to me today.

I went to work with my bike this morning as normal, no particular message on the display, nothing special.

TOnight, I tried to start the bike = Nothing

No red light flashing, impossible to do anything.

I noticed that the key was on FSS (i must have forgotten that this morning).

I tried then the second kipass = nothing

I took the voltage of the battery = 4 volts.

I thought I found the problem, I tried then to use my friend K1200R battery instead of mine = Nothing

I am quite confused  ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ???

1) Is putting the key on the FSS will drain the battery

2) How come the BMW battery didn't worked?

3) is there a particular procedure to do when I change the battery to initialise the kipass?

4) Any advise?

I havent been through all the manuals because i didn't had time yet and I wanted to share with you asap my problem

Thanks again to all of you

merci

I'm not sure if switching to FSS cuts out electrical connections, so maybe the the lights killed the battery.

How did you try and use the K1200 battery? Was it definitely charged?

You don't have to do anything specific to enable KiPass as far as I'm aware.

this sounds like an electrical fault to me....FSS is the position to remove the key (it serves no other purpose), so it follows that all electrical connections should be off, apart from your blinking red light. If the battery voltage is 4v...then that is obviously the cause of the 'non starting'...but not maybe the cause of the problem.....i am no expert, but sounds like a bad earth or an open relay somewhere...although this can be a bugger to find. The drain would have to be fairly substantial if the engine wont turn over from a fully charged power source....

Swapping batteries should not affect on Kipass, however if you are not sure....follow the low battery (in the transponder) system for starting the bike (mount key cut out on the protrusion infront of the ignition, make sure engine kill switch is set to 'on' and main key is also to on....)

Honestly if it wont start after the battery has had a full charge...time to go to the Repair shop?

Do you have an alarm fitted? ???
It's not a case of whether we can fix it or not - it's more a case of how fixed would you like it?

Hey guys,

Had sorted out the issue (i guess)

I beleive that on my bike the FSS position is not 100% leak proof  and that this is what caused the battery to leak (first time i put the bike on FSS for so long (1 day)).

Battery depleted, I ordered a new one and managed to start the bike using a quick booster charger.

I have no alarm but I have an amplifier with speaker and a GPS on the bike connected to the accessory plug

sounds like you have it sorted...however if it happens again then i would suggest looking a little deeper into it......it all sounds a bit strange to me...but could just be a blip ::)
