I have sold my BMW K1200gt and I am looking at buying a 2010 GTR, two questions for experienced owners:
I have been told the GTR is very heavy at low speeds , is this an issue for anyone?
Also as I have a narrow side entrance does anyone know what width the bike is if you remove the mirrors as I have read here that they can be taken off easily?
Thanks

viper

cant say the gtr is heavy at low speed , no more so than any other large bike ive riden, tbh the weight does fall away as soon as the wheels are turning.

width

1060 mm mirror tip to mirror tip,    930 mm with mirrors turned in, 800 mm with mirrors off leaving mirror base/post in situ

Thanks for the info, I agree with you that all big tourers can be heavy so I am sure the GTR is no worse!!

Came from bmw too ;
Only issue after falling in love with the gtr ;-D was for me the wind(screen)...  All rest was better (biking)

Good luck

Just to confirm can you remove the mirrors easily as is stated with only 3 bolts ??
As I will have to do this each time I park it for the night, this is really my only concern as I do not want to leave a new baby outside!!!

Yes James. It's just 3 screws.

That could be an issue as I think you might have to take some fairing off to get at the bolts

I think he means the 3 screws under the mirror post.

To get the 800mm width I gather it's just remove the mirror, I have no experience of doing this so this is why I want to be sure before buying!

viper

take mirrors off leaving the mirror posts / bases still on the fairing and its a midges whisker under 800mm

exBanditOwner

can you make your entrance bigger?
